Island food chain Habitat suggestion and other things

first of all, i should thank to the developer for making this great game.
now for the suggestion when i go to floating island i see something odd there, there is rust on the abandoned bases and a land slide but there is no rain while iam playing this game so i will start with that.

1. Rain
sometime on day or night but not too often there will be a rain or even storm, the player can collect this rain water to get fresh water (lab container or something that can contain water will be needed).
pros : that land slide on island / rust and bushy flora on the island/mountain would make sense.
cons : maybe will be too OP in mid/late game. some lag may occur while you are underwater.

2. land creature
2a. lets start with a herbivore one, LandUrchin (sorry i dont really have naming sense, cant provide concept art either)
a small mammal hedgehog like creature that have round body and hair like small spike. have a 2 little hand and 2 leg that able to high jump and take lantern fruit (their favourite food). a curious and intelligent, like glowing things will slowly come to player when they bring/throw lantern fruit at night then the player can see this cute little thing eating. afraid of cave crawler, Carona, and player (except when the player bringing lantern fruit) will round up/jumping away when they notice them, doesnt really like Rain and will take shelter below tree when rain.
pros : some anti depressant for player after their seamoth got eaten, or getting tired see the cave crawler

2b. another herbivore, Rooteater (their main food)
a medium size creature like elephant have a 4 tusk and armor like a rhino (?) *doesnt have fur. will be provoked when get hit by player / other creature and attack them with the tusks, deal 25% health to player when get hit by the tusks. weak to cave crawler, slow, and only roaming on the lower side of island. eating grass and sometime bulbo tree (they will use their tusk for it).

2c. carnivore, Carona (from carnivore and corona like crest they have)
a medium size reptilian like a dilophosaurus, their crest on head is glowing like mesmer and they use it for hunt landurchin on the night. have membrane on their feet and arm and fin like tail, they use it to swim and diving hunting cave crawler. coward and sneaky afraid of creature that bigger than them, will open their crest when notice player then run away.

and that end my suggestion for floating island and mountain habitat.

now for the other thing...
1. craftable nutrient block.
the recipe will be unlocked once the player take creepvine.
the recipe would be : cooked boomerang, chinese potato, and creepvine sample.
pros : a more reason to cultivate plant, and breeding fish.

2. laser cutter animation.
currently the animation of laser cutter is fixed and you cant move it while make a round hole on a door, that sometime bugging.
my suggestion is change it to manual, there will be fixed path so player can move the cutter to make a hole and once the player cut it the progress bar will stay still at that number.
for example :
before, when player cut the door, and the progress bar is showing 15% while the player is not at the correct position the bar will reset to 0 and then repeat the progress, i believe this make multiple door bug, and there will be no hole even after the progress showing 100%.
after, there will be fixed path on the door that player must follow that path manually to make a hole, when the bar is showing progress number 15% for example and the player is not at the right position, the laser will stop. there will be burnt area which player trying to cut before and the progress is stay at 15%, player must continue from the path where they stop before and make 100% progress to make a hole.

thats it, thank you for reading this suggestion and sorry for my bad english.

Hey guys!

Subnautica is currently in Early Access and as such you may from time to time encounter bugs and in the worst case, crashes. If you have issues with stability of Subnautica, please post your issues with as much detail as possible (video/screenshots/descriptions), followed by the following requested information:

Example Topic Title:
[Crash] Open my Locker and Crash! [Version Number]

1) Please run dxdiag.exe (search windows for it) on your systems and hit the button 'save all information' in the bottom right. Save this file for later.

Edit by Jonas:
We've also got a very similar guide with pictures for each step on Steam.
And as in every good tech support:
  • Please make sure that your Windows is up to date.
  • Please make sure that your drivers are up to date.
  • Please make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements.
  • Please close all other applications before starting the game.
  • Have you tried turning it off and on again? ;)

Rocks keep forming inside my base

If I place a corridor or a room it moves any rock blocking it out the way. That is probably because the terraformer isn't in Xbox one. However, about 10 mins later I go inside my base and it is filled with rock So then i have to remove the corridors and rooms then replace them. This is really annoying and if it is happening to anyone else please let me know so I can be sure it's not just my game glitcing out.

The Final Subnautican Presidential Election

The story so far

For any of you who have been following the political shenanigans in the other "political" threads, a whole lot has gone down. Politics finally degenerated into warfare after the Greater Communist Shoal Conglomerate (biters) had a border dispute with the Neo-Luddite Advocation Party (crabsquids) in the Lost River. Battle lines were drawn, and alliances made. On one side, the Communist forces, led by @phantomfinch's army of GCSC biters. Also in this alliance were the Warpers of the Public Health/Safety Party, led by @Enderguy059 (who mysteriously went missing at the start of the war). Even the Reefbacks were not immune, as even though they had won control of the Grand Reef through politics, a few of their number were co-opted by the GCSC. On the other side, the Reef Conglomerate. An alliance between unlikely partners, the Reef Conglomerate brought together several political mainstays. The lead organizer, @Jamezorg of the NLAP, commanded an army of crabsquids in the Grand Reef and surrounding areas. The belligerent @ResolutionBlaze of the aptly-named National Violence party commanded the aggressive reapers and stalkers. Lastly, the Surprisingly Appealing Hypnosis Party (mesmers) was begrudgingly drawn into the alliance, though its leader ( @dealwithitdog ) went missing at the start of the conflict.

Thus, at the beginning of the war, the planet of 4546B was divided up, about to engage in a bloody battle:
yuh93n0hjlvy.jpg

The conflict raged on, seemingly without end. The United Crabsnake Republic, emerging from civil war, announced their independence from their GCSC-controlled neighbors. They even went so far as to spar, indecisively, with a few invading GCSC forces. The NVP changed nominally to the Devorandum Confederacy, and several inspiring charges were made on both sides of the conflict into the Blood Kelp biomes. The Lesser Blood kelp changed hands between the NLAP and GCSC several times, and an epic attack was made on the Greater Blood Kelp by the DC. This attack was soon reversed by an equally inspiring GCSC counterattack, dubbed "Operation Bloodbath." Throughout the conflict, @Skope consistently braved the front lines to bring pictures and accounts of the war to us. No less in informative value were @Jamezorg's verbal accounts of the many battles (at this point I would reccomend checking the Subnautican War Thread for all of these). Towards the end of the conflict, @Enderguy059 suddenly returned and renounced his warpers from the GCSC. The Republic of Koosh also completed an intense campaign against the GCSC dubbed "Silver-wing's Charge." All told, the conflict resulted in the following geopolitical map:
sxua48mfpvy0.jpg

Exhausted, most of the involved parties were jolted into peaceful sentiments by the shocking news that the President, a Peeper, had been wounded due to the conflict. With the president resigning, a new political void was introduced, amid tense party feelings. Though the nation may be in shock from the war, the impromptu election of the next Subnautican President is now upon us.

The Candidates:
Though no candidates have had time to prepare to run, several figures immediately stand out as presidential material: Firstly, @ResolutionBlaze, the leader of the Confederacy. Forged in the fires of battle, he has stood against biter armies and come out tougher for it, mounting several devastating attacks on the GCSC during the war. He has even run for political office before, as the NVP was the opposing party in the original Subnautican Presidential Election.
Additionally, @Jamezorg stands out from the crowd. When war was imminent, he organized the largest political alliance in 4546B's history, even roping in former political enemies. Speaking for the often-repressed Crabsquids of the Deep Grand Reef, he first made his presence known as an outspoken activist in the Grand Reef Gubernatorial election. Though he may have lost that election, he stayed strong throughout the battle, with not one inch of territory ceded or lost by the end.
Thirdly, the embattled @phantomfinch. Though the GCSC suffered heavy losses throughout the battle, he stood alone against the combined forces of the Reef Conglomerate and fought them, often to a standstill. Orchestrator of the successful "Operation Bloodbath" campaign, his devotion to his forces and troops is surpassed only by his dedication to the communist cause. He also famously invited the head of the NLAP to a game of football in the memorable "Christmas Truce."
@dealwithitdog also seems fit for the presidency, though he did not prominently serve in the war. An avid politician, the SAHP was poised for victory at one point during the Grand Reef Gubernatorial election, eventually polling slightly less than the Environmental Protection and Cooperation Agency. Despite this defeat, however, the SAHP has remained a prominent party in politics, voicing their opinion and famously establishing a feud with the NVP. They even seceded from the union of 4546B, forming their own Republic of Koosh. Though he did not orchestrate it directly, his party was also responsible for "Silver-wing's charge," a tactical maneuver which captured 3 GCSC territories in one turn.
(I promise you this list only continues on for a little while longer)

@skope also proved his mettle in the furnace of civil war, both as a reporter and as the head of the UCR. The Jellyshroom caves had been rocked by a civil war between the small crabsnakes and the "snekzilla" crabsnakes, beings of immense size and power (who were also probably bugs). Uniting in a peaceful treaty as the United Crabsnake Republic, the UCR was plunged directly into another war- this time, one on a global scale. Though their participation in the conflict was small, they managed to emerge from the battle still unified. Skope's reporting on-scene also provided, in shocking detail, the horrors of war first-hand.
@Enderguy059 is the last major player in the war, and deserves credit as well. Though he arrived towards the end of the conflict, his party's devotion to peace was strong enough that he was willing to forsake his old alliance. Additionally, the PH/SP has always promoted the benefit of the people through scientific progress in past elections, and still remains the best possible hope of clearing the Caraar.
@Casual_Player is also a person of interest, and in this case I do mean person. A stranded survivor of the Aurora wreckage, he represents the Foreign Migration Minority Advocates. He has notably made scientific research advances into the G.U.N. (sorry, precursor array).
@Julian1337331nailuJ is an... umm... "Representative" from the... uh.. Rich Clan? An Avid (If Partially Grammatically Incorrect) Political Player, He Has Engraved His Mark (And His Capitalization Habits) Onto The Entire Planet. Make 4546B All Caps Again!
DJ Ampeel is, what else, an Amp-eel DJ from the koosh zone (consider this @Darwin-Evolution ). He is known for.... well, nothing politically, although his mixtape is reportedly at the source of all Koosh Zone thermal vents (which is to say: FIRE!!!!). Vote DJ-AMPEEL for mandatory sick beats.

Nameless politicians:
The ECPA is running a reefback candidate, seeing as they have won the Grand Reef Gubernatorial election, and are currently the most popular party. It is unknown at this time their opinion on the actions of the Reefbacks during the Civil War. As of right now, no spokesfish for the EPCA has made themselves present.

The Issues:
In addition to the politicians, the issues on the table for the election are no less pressing; simply a small sampling of them are as follows:
1: The drawing up of an official peace treaty, and the terms and conditions of such a document
2: The actions taken against or for any provinces captured or ceded in the war: Do the parties involved get to keep them, or should they relinquish them to previous boundaries? Or, potentially, a mixture of the two, ceding some territories or leaving others?
3: The militant reefbacks involved in the combat, and what their actions mean for the EPCA's message
4: The split of the PH/SP, and whether or not the party can re-join/what will happen to the GCSC-controlled warpers?
5: The military vs. political control of the Grand Reef, does it belong to the NLAP now or still the EPCA?
6: The actions taken against POWs, and repatriation
7: The merging of both sides of the conflict into a single union once again, and how that will happen...

So, I leave this now in the people's hands: Who will become the next Subnautican President, in the wake of such dizzying global shocks?
sorry for the excessively long discussion... it is the FINAL ELECTION, after all!

we need a better weapon than just a knife. im not saying and gun because that wont work with the lore of the game, unless the main character finds a way to hach the system to allow him to craft guns. we need a throwable spear with like a tether to keep from loosing it. the game is great but there isnt a way to really defend yourself.

Subnautica version - 42313 dec-2016
Description - there is a bug while trying to get Boomerang Fish using Propulsion Cannon
Reproduction steps - Well one of the uses I found for the P.cannon is fishing. But there's this bug when it comes to Boomerang Fish. If I use the item, the fish will be wierdly placed in a random place (there is still that magnet effect) but not attracted to the character.
Picture - I attached this screenshot that i made, this is how it looks.

How about variables for translation/translation files?

$
0

I came up with this Idea since I started translating parts of the german Version!

What I mean is that we just have to translate the MAIN-Entry and then use that as a variable for other text where you also can find that Name!

Here a example what I mean bc it is hard to explain that with words:
(Example is given with the Stalker)

MAIN would be:
Stalker (that is the variable or Name for the game)

Stalker (that will be shown in game and is changeable, so if I type here just "Fish" the game would type/Show Fish anytime "Stalker" is pointed)

So that is NOT the only Entry of the Stalker and if you translate it to you languange you have to type/translate the COMPLETE text just to Change Stalker with anything you decided to call it!

You also have:

StalkerTooth

Stalker tooth

Ency_Stalker

Stalker

StalkerEgg

Stalker egg

Tooltip_StalkerEgg

Stalker hatch from These

Ency_StalkerTooth

Stalker Behavior and Physiology

and many more...

If you now Change the Name Stalker to Metalfish you have to Change also ALL other texts and implement them again!
If you Change Stalker to crocodilemouth you have to Change ALL texts again...

If you now could use {} or [] as example it would look like this:

StalkerTooth

{Stalker} tooth

Ency_Stalker

{Stalker}

StalkerEgg

{Stalker} egg

Tooltip_StalkerEgg

{Stalker} hatch from These

Ency_StalkerTooth

{Stalker} Behavior and Physiology

If you now CHANGE the main and JUST the main entry it would also Change all texts because you can now use a variable!!!
So if you now Change Stalker to Metalfish it would also put that (or better Show that) in the other texts that you don't have to Change because using variables!

Hope anyone gets what I mean?

[SOLVED] Water Has Disappeared

Subnautica Version - 42313
Description - The texture for the water has disappeared
Reproduction steps - I cannot recall exactly what caused this bug to occur (which I understand is highly unhelpful), but I can say that I was messing around with the graphics settings in the F3 tab. I believe I switched the Texture Quality from 3 to 4, and for testing purposes I turned on and off each of the five settings below. Included in the picture are both the F3 and F1 tab information. If any further information is needed, just let me know and I shall gather it.

Excuse me, how do you exactly pacify a Stalker?

Coop or multiplayer in Subnautica? I'm afraid not.

Hey everyone,

We've been getting tons and tons of questions and requests about whether we're going to add multiplayer to Subnautica or not.

Back in our early prototypes we always had multiplayer in the back of our mind. But we had so much to learn about the game, multiplayer was never a priority. Eventually we hit early access and now it would take many man-years to add any kind of multiplayer to Subnautica. We don't want to spend years more working on Subnautica before v1.0, so we sadly have come to terms with the fact that we won't be adding any kind of multiplayer or coop to the game.

Maybe one day we'll start over on a different engine and make a new Subnautica game based around coop. A game where one person is piloting the sub, another person is poring over readouts and computers, another is repairing the engines and yet another is radioing for help in a dark biome, where their Seamoth is almost out of juice. We would love to play that game.

But until then, we're going to finish up Subnautica the way it was meant to be: one person trying to survive in in a massive, dangerous, beautiful, alien world.

Bugs breaking my game in multiple ways

$

On my first save, on about the 9th day, all voice-overs just stopped being audible, this included emergency oxygen warnings and the like. As weird as it was to me I just thought it was the game taking off the training wheels and making me manage my own oxygen etc until I found out even story messages like the sunbeams calls couldn't be heard.

On the same day, as I went to collect materials to move them from the lifepod to my base, I saw that there wasn't one lifepod, but three now present in the safe shallows. For some reason two more of my lifepod had spawned, but in both new ones all the things inside that you can normally interact with, such as the medkit fabricator, were all unrendered and you could see outside through them (you also couldn't interact with them if that wasn't apparent). One of the two was also filled to the brim with metal salvage, for some reason.

At this point I decided the world was broken and had bugged out, so I decided a world restart was in order. I restarted and everything was working normally until I realised the logs started on day 10, for some reason continuing from my previous save. This wasn't really a game breaking bug but it bothered me so I restarted. This second restart the day counter was back at 1 like it should've been, so that was good. But when I went to interact with the medkit fabricator. It didn't open. You could still hear the sound of it opening and closing, and the prompt for opening or closing the fabricator still appeared, but there was not animation and regardless of whether or not it was open I couldn't collect the medkit. This was a sign that my game was broken to a bad extent. I verified the game cache and it said everything was fine so I reinstalled the game. I am still getting the medkit fabricator bug and this is only as far as I have tested. Other bugs that I foudn could still be present

Please send help because my game is kind of broken beyond being able to play it.

I am not currently running the most recent early development build, I don't know what that is because now subnautica won't even shut down and is not in the processes list in task manager, not even when I show all processes.

Silver is Frustratingly Difficult to Find Now

$

Hi Devs

I know you recently changed the chances of sandstone producing gold/silver from, I believe, a 30/70 ratio to a 50/50. I now find silver frustratingly difficult to find. Gold is found in 50% of sandstone and a percentage of basalt. Silver is only found in sandstone that I am aware of. Yet silver is needed in far more item productions than gold is, so why have you reduced the ratio of silver finds? I now have an abundance of worthless gold, but still trying to get a decent amount of silver. In my humble opinion, your moving sandstone to a 50/50 chance of producing silver was a bad move. Perhaps you could make basalt have a chance of producing silver too, in order to make the silver balance a little more favourable.
