[BUG]: Crashes en route to or near Precursor Array [Early Development Build 42313 Dec-2016]

Subnautica Version - Early Development Build 42313 Dec-2016
Description - FPS drops, sometimes followed by game crashes
Reproduction steps - Traveling towards or around the precursor array, usually worse when submerged. Crashes appear to happen at the same locations, so travelling in a different direction after loading the save game seem to avoid a crash.

Hello everyone!

A bit of introduction here : I'm new on the forums but not on the game. Subnautica is one of my favorite game and although i didn't spend too much time on it, i had a super experience playing it! What I enjoyed the most is the exploration thanks to the wonderful places there are, and also the submarines, especially the Cyclops. And for once, a developer team has enough talent to make the vehicle completely playable. And not just making the exterior and the cockpit.
I'm currently a student for game design, and I started to make my own 3D models. Moreover i saw the concept arts for other submarines and particularly the bigger one which looks just fantastic! I know I'm really a beginner in modelling and texturing, but I want to give it a try. Maybe you could give some criticism and tips for this challenge! :tongue:

Those views are orthographic, there is only the general shape of the submarine. I'm currently working on a second model because the shape doesn't match perfectly with the concept image. On the first picture you can see the mesh, which is a bit weird, but again, i'm only a beginner. Future pictures will be more interesting!

Day 1. The Day I Got Here. When I Woke Up I Was Immediately Surprised By The Fact About The Escape Pod Was Damaged. It Has Been Tested With Everything With No Damage But This? Impossible! I Honestly Said "What Could Have Damaged The Escape Pod? Its Impossible To Damage It!" (Please Don't Be A Gramzi And Annoy Me About My Grammar Errors.) I Sighed And Left The Escape Pod. The Aroura Was What I Saw First. "Wow. What Could Have Happened To That?" Then I Looked Behind Myself. And I Saw The Airship. When I Saw The Airship I Said "What!?!? WHAT!?!? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE AIRSHIP!?!?" I Was Surprised. Then I Just Decided To Go Into The Water. How? Simple. Sprinting. And Jumping. When I Gone Underwater (I'm A Lucario Because Why Not.) I Saw A Warper. Then I Heard It Through My Suits Radio And It Said "Subject Detected. Main Task Switched." I Then Get My Main Stasis Cannon And I Launch It At The Warper To Get It To Stay Still So I Cant Be Launched Away. Then I Get Into The Escape Pod Then Go To Its Storage Bay. Then I Get The Base Building Kit And Just Get Back Out. Then I Start Building My Base. And It Looks A lot Different Then Everybody Else's. And Its Small At First. It Has A Basic Eternal Power Generator Model 1. The Eternal Power Generator Can Be Upgraded. I Always Have My First Models Made Without Any Materials Needed. But The Upgrades Will Take Some Materials. Despite Being Second In Command Of The Rich Clan (I Was There When It Started.) The Tools Were On Emergency Mode And You Will Need A Super Computer For Them To Be Put Off Of Emergency Mode. But That Will Need A lot Of Materials To Make. Day 2. I Got A Repair Tool After A While Of Working In The Base. When I Got It I Said "Yes! A Repair Tool!" I Then Gone To The Escape Pod To Repair It. When I Repaired It I Got A 10% Material Discount Meaning I Can Get Things Faster. But Then I Realized. I Might Have Forgotten About A Possible Explosion Chance. But It Will Take A Few More Days To Have It Explode. Episode 1 Ends Here. You Guys Can Change The Episodes. If You Want To Join Of If You Want Other Things To Happen.

Seamoth with Perimeter Defense upgrade causes random game crash

From a new start the game runs fine with little lag or glitch until I build the Seamoth. Once that vehicle is built lag becomes an issue but is still playable without crashing right up until I build and install the Perimeter Defense upgrade. After that lag becomes a serious issue, the soundscape glitches (playing random sounds and sometimes not playing any environmental or creature sounds at all), and the game crashes randomly and frequently. This problem persists even in the other vehicles as well after this point, regardless of the location of the Seamoth or the upgrade. Removal of the upgrade doesn't change the problem either. I haven't found any solutions in the troubleshooting section nor in the forums that has helped or changed this issue in any way. Also, I am technologically inept, so any fix that requires a deep understanding and modification of programs is beyond me. I would really appreciate any help that I can understand and make use of. Many thanks in advance.

Im Moment bin ich ja so ziemlich der einzige, der das Spiel übersetzt, was gerade bei Enzyklopädieeinträgen etwas langwierig ist.
Wäre schön, wenn sich noch andere beteiligen. Ich guck alle paar Tage mal rein, um nach neuen Einträgen Ausschau zu halten. Ich bin auch der amtierende Moderator für die Deutschsektion, ich sichte also auch alle Übersetzungen, bevor sie übernommen werden.

I came up with this Idea since I started translating parts of the german Version!

What I mean is that we just have to translate the MAIN-Entry and then use that as a variable for other text where you also can find that Name!

Here a example what I mean bc it is hard to explain that with words:
(Example is given with the Stalker)

MAIN would be:
Stalker (that is the variable or Name for the game)

Stalker (that will be shown in game and is changeable, so if I type here just "Fish" the game would type/Show Fish anytime "Stalker" is pointed)

So that is NOT the only Entry of the Stalker and if you translate it to you languange you have to type/translate the COMPLETE text just to Change Stalker with anything you decided to call it!

If you now CHANGE the main and JUST the main entry it would also Change all texts because you can now use a variable!!!
So if you now Change Stalker to Metalfish it would also put that (or better Show that) in the other texts that you don't have to Change because using variables!

Hope anyone gets what I mean?

Make the Seamoth a scout vessel

I've been looking at Trello, this board and just playing the game and the more I do the more I think the Seamoth really should be a scouting vessel. On Trello, they talk about Making the Cyclops relevant, and say "Seamoth has limited oxygen in addition to the player, this will make it so the Seamoth is a short range craft that is more or less anchored to the cyclops and must go there to recharge its oxygen". I think this is a great idea, and that this should affect the biggest balance that a Seamoth with two storage compartments, solar panels modification and a pressure compensator renders the Cyclops obsolete apart from if you were to explore the lava zones.

The Seamoth when you first create it is your mobile base, but once you make a Cyclops and don't ditch it for a Seamoth, you tend to park the Cyclops in a big open cavern or area ~100m away from your intended goal, and run the Seamoth around, but then you have to bail out to scan and harvest. How about if we have a scanner module that lets us scan the thing in front of us? This shouldn't mess with the PRAWN's balancing in that you use it to harvest, and it still sees the use you're supposed to give the Seamoth, but for reaching those ultra depths where the Seamoth won't go in the lava zones, as it is way more manoeuvrable than the Cyclops and ultimately better as a scan/harvest tool. In that sense, you could also make this modification shared between them both, so that both can be used for scouting terrain ahead of the Cyclops before returning to unload and then set sail elsewhere

[BUG]Seamoth stuck in terrain after clipping[42313]

I was in the dunes area next to the mushroom forest when my seamoth clipped through the terrain and got stuck there. I was able to get out of the seamoth and saw it "buried" in the dunes. I could get back into the seamoth but couldn't drive it.

What, with all the reported crashes and frame rate drops,and now this, the Precursor update appears to be riddled with bugs. I think the devs released it too early in an attempt to get it out before Christmas. :disappointed:

The problem of the mobility of floating objects

Due to the size of the mobile vehicle bay, I seriously think it needs a beacon as it is extremely easy to lose, and I would not want to have to build another just cause I lost the first.

As for the lifepod, its mobility isn't really a problem as such, it's just a little bit anoying for me, I'd like it to always be in the biome it started in. Some disagree with me, so I've got a solution: the ability to build anchors. Those who like the lifepod to move a bit aren't forced to build some if they don't want to, and those who like immobility can build a couple of anchors to immobilize the lifepod.

Love this game even with some bugs here and there (to be expected from an early access game),
but now after having the game get the infamous error 0x0000005 i wanted to contribute my share of the problem.

As for the cause of the issue just made my cyclops and parked my seamoth in it

Hello, I'm new to Subnautica and I already insanely love it, but the issue is that when I got to a certain point in the gameplay where I breed fish, build multiple bases, drive vehicles etc. and the game became unplayable as it frequently crashes and freeze all the time.

The thing is I am using a 4GB RAM, do you think upgrading to a 16GB one would help to run the game smoothly as I only have a 2 core processor? My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570.

Thank you very much in advance and I'm sorry for my lacking knowledge of computers.

I was wondering if there was anyway to get a refund? I am very disappointed at the fact that I can not even enjoy any part off the game, let alone try to survive dehydration and hunger due to the horrible FPS. Plus I was hoping for multiplayer....

I'm the type of player who loves to go out of their way, or do some difficult task, and get a achievement for it. Its bad enough that Subnautica only has 3 achievements now, but they are also achievements that you just get while playing. There's no work involved. So UWE here's a thread of suggestions, unless this thread gets ignored. (Also this is in mind that 1.0 is out)

My suggestions:
Traveler - Go to every biome
Vegetarian - Get off the planet without eating a single fish
Reckless Driver - Kill 50 creatures with a vehicle
Need a place to rest? - Make a multipurpose room with a bed
Seeing all - Make a observatory
Overkill much? - Make every prawn upgrade
Hoarder - Have one of everyitem in inventory at one point of the game
We're gonna need a bigger sub - Kill a Reaper Leviathan
Decked out - Have a customized cyclops (colors and interior decorated)
You won't need this anymore - Take all of the secret items out of the Aurora
Going Deeper - Have the MK 3 Pressure compensator in all vehicles
Aquarium - Have one of every creature inside a aquarium
Herder - Farm fish in a aqarium
Farmer - Farm plants either underwater or in base

Put in your own, remember they area completely optional so they can pretty much be anything, besides things that you would get just playing through the story or game like Point! - You made a knife.

(sorry, couldnt think of a good title for the thing)

so we have plant pots that we can use indoors. relatively small, they dont take as much space as the growbeds but dont hold as much.

i'd love an underwater equivalent. Pipes seem to break the game for me, not to mention arent really viable for the wrecks guarded by fierce predators.

however, if we could build a small plant pot/shelf/whatever inside the wrecks, we could simply plant some purple brain coral, and create little oxygen stations so that exploring wrecks isn't a mad dash.

so yeah, not a big addition, but it would certainly be helpful!

Midgame fragments and monsters stop spawning.

This is a weird one and will try my best to explain what happens. At the beginning of the game monsters/loot/fragments spawn at a normal and somewhat predictable rate. Just being able to roam around and find fragments and monsters at a rate of 1fragment-per15min play time and monsters at random points.

However after getting a good number of the fragments and blue prints the fragments just stop spawning. I am normally lucky and somehow get all the fragments for the cyclops(I had two runs where I couldn't find more then 2 fragments of the 9 needed) and go hunting deeper and deeper for more fragments. But at some point there is a cutoff so no fragments spawn not even the geaglide fragments.

I just thought I wasn't looking in the right spots and that some changes were made to the game but after driving around in my cyclops and seamoth for almost 6 hours of play time with no fragments spawning or even monsters feels more like a glitch. The problem is persistent but resets when making a new game so the game spawns more fragments at the beginning then randomly stops midgame.

I have tried reinstalling the game 3 times and tried verifying the integrity of game cache with little noticeable differences.
Has anyone else experienced this type of bug before because I feel like it might be tied to my gpu or cpu but cant say for sure.

When I loaded up my game earlier, it produced (what I assume is) an exact copy of my lifepod. My game crashed before I could examine further, but I saved some screenshots and uploaded the crash log here. It seems that other parts of the game double loaded as well, but I didn't get screenshots of all of them. The game seemed to work fine the next time I loaded it, albeit with more lag, but this bug is pretty interesting so I'm uploading it anyway.
