Transfuser

So I started a new game (hardcore) for the farming update, and while I was out exploring I picked up the blueprint for the transfuser. Problem is, I can't seem to actually build the thing. Is there a way to do it?

I started a creative mode game and it's available there, along with a sample analyzer for the base that presumably works with it.

I'm wondering if it's like the seamoth torpedo launcher, where it doesn't show up as an option at all until you have the right materials on you.

Looking at the H2.0 website and I watched the background video at the top. I downloaded it and played it through. The sky looks like its rotating on an axis, that or the planet. So is this intentional, are the devs trying to tells us something?

Stalkers are much quieter - Bug or Feature?

So Since the farming update I've had the pants scared off of me several times by Stalkers sneaking up on me. This almost never happened in H2.0 as they made lots of noise as they came after me. At first I thought it was a bug, but then I remembered something... They're called "Stalkers" right? Maybe their nearly silent hunting methods are intentional. Either way, it makes them a much more fearsome opponent.

With the new update the h20 filtration machine can't be acquired by 1 fragment alone.

There's now only 1 fragment for it in the original wreck. I've checked three other wrecks that have nothing in them, any idea where fragment 2 is? Or are both in/near the original and I just overlooked them?

That is still all.
I figured it might be time to start this lark up again, and since the old thread is, well, old, and many of the older tags are broken, I figured we'd just start a new thread while we're at it. I'm starting out with Fun With Microwaves, which, incidentally, is not a Youtube video. Sorry.

Edit: Since the thread is only nearing THREE YEARS OLD HOLY ######, now is the time to write a handy tutorial on how the Youtube-tag works. It allows you to embed vidjas, which is neat and fine.

CODE
We will use this URL to demonstrate: image

First, I will split the URL up, like so: image

The center part is what we need, the rest is unimportant. In this case, the important bit is this: utGXF5orynk

Enclose that in [youtube] tags. Open tag and close tag. Like so: [youtube]utGXF5orynk[/youtube]

And presto, you have embedded your Youtube video! If you want to be a total Pimp McFancypants, include the original URL right after the [youtube] tags, so that those so inclined may click upon it rather than with the embedded video. If you do so, strip the garbage from the end, like &feature=related, &feature=player_embedded etc. Also, enclose it in [center] tags so it aligns nicely with the video above it. Remember a space after the open tag so the board still recognizes it as a URL and turns it into a link. Looks nicer that way. Making things look nice makes you a cool person. I know these things. It'll look like this:
[youtube]utGXF5orynk[/youtube] [center] image [/center]

If you did everything right, the end result will look like this:

Oh and when you're done, remember to hit preview before you post to check that you did it right. Nothing's worse than ending up with a white box rather than the video you wanted because you ###### it up. Makes you look like an idiot.

sound bug (constant ringing)

I've had this start up several times randomly. I exit the game and restart and it goes away. Now, however, it's constant and no matter what I do it won't go away. It starts up within one minute of loading into the game. It appears to just start on its own. I did nothing but run around the inside of my base for a minute or so and it started ringing just from that, so I don't know what's causing it.

The Natural Selection 2 Achievement suggestions & ideas thread

Hey guys,

With achievements looming over our heads, I thought it would be a good idea to propose our own achievement suggestions, please feel free to suggest what you would think be a "good" achievement to unlock in NS2.

Who knows, if the devs like your idea enough it *may* sneak into the official game itself?

Here's my two cents;-

Naturally Selected - "Kill a skulk, gorge, lerk, fade & onos in one round!".

Bogey! - "Hit a lerk mid-air with a grenade launcher".

Map/scanner room IS REAL?!

Just let's take a look at this: https://trello.com/c/w0Cd4SPU/5446-map-scanner-room

It is in the list "Doing", meaning that cannot be just side project. In the checklist, we can see quite a few interesting details like "upgrade chips for scanner (build at fabricator)" !

I don't remember where, but I am sure there was discussion about map room.
My question is simple; is this the plan of devs all along, or is this proof they really take those good ideas from us, community? Anyway, this is really good news! Thank you devs! :)

Run into a major issue

I've discovered I might have a major issue with my PC with running Subnautica. For the past few days I've been unable to play the game and for the life of me I can't wrap my head around it. First it happened on experimental as that's what I play. I reported what I was encountering in this thread

http://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/140583/experimental-latest-build-causing-game-freeze-and-subnautica-not-responding#latest

So I was curious and decided to uninstall the game and then install it fresh, to make sure things were going to run okay I opted to not go for the experimental branch just yet. The result of this is that I've encountered the same exact issue I was running into before in the thread I linked on the stable build. This is a red flag for me, this means that something on my PC hardware or software is causing my issue. I've tried running stable with and without the -force -d3d9 command and the result is the exact same.

As soon as I try to enter the water the game screen blacks out and then goes to white and then I get the program is not responding popup from windows.

since I know what's going to be asked here's the output log and also my dxdaig

Performance

Been having some lower performance recently and since performance should get better over time. I did another test.
As I have run a few "performance tests" before, I went back to the last one for data.

Now lets compare the newest patch, build 287, to that older one from build 277.
Minor detail this is a fresh install of NS2, with a wiped appdata folder because before that it was even worse.

Earlier performance is taken from here: NS2 and CPU speed scaling test.

The new 287 build numbers are from multiple runs averaged.

9e37d2b6fb.jpg
OLD AVG @ 4.7GHz: 150.53
NEW AVG @ 4.7GHz: 136.4
OLD AVG @ 4.0GHz: 132.78

So 10 builds and on average there's a 10% loss in this test alone, seeing considerably larger losses in the individual runs (up to 20% less) and noticeable impact when actually just playing the game in 6v6 where I used to hold 144+ now having issues with seeing 144 at many points.

I wouldn't have posted this, but with PDT aiming for more lights and particles because of all the performance we've apparently gained and several other competitive players who mentioned this decline in performance, I figured what the hell, someone might think about looking into it.

Get Spooked

well, ns2 has always lacked a server side demo system and I've wanted to do this for a long time for teams of the past and players in the past but I finally was able to throw something together with shadowplay from people's povs

taken from 6v6 scrims/matches/gathers

Creature Idea: World Eater

So I have an idea for a creature, listen to this. So you're swimming into the endless depths of the ocean (the part where it's pitch black and goes on forever) and then when you get REALLY deep you see gigantic teeth
on the edges of your view, and then it starts sucking in the water around you, making it so you can't swim away and then it eats you alive. I don't really have the specifics of what it would look or sound like but I think that would be SO piss your pants scary.

Custom map playtest sessions

mappers and env. artists wanted for weekly playtests
Today I started renting a 18 player NS2 server, it'll be open to vanilla pub games most the time. The main reason for me paying out for this is to start testing my own work out. However I know it can hard it can be to get enough players on any custom map server, let alone players that can provide valuable feedback. So I've had the idea of starting a group up; level designers and environment artists getting together once or twice a week a set times to play test and discuss each others work. I only had the idea last night so right now I'm just testing the waters to see if people would be interested in getting involved. If there is enough interest, I'll start by setting up a svn/dropbox, mumble server and a steam group. The key people we need are active members of the NS2 community that have maps that are READY for testing. Secondary (but no less important) are the rest of us who have some level of experience in either environment art or level design to fill up the remaining slots and bring valuable insight and feedback into the sessions.
There is only 18 slots as anymore would make the games unrepresentative of a typical game, and probably a bit too noisy. Depending on the level of interest I think people submitting work for testing would always get priory for slots, and for the rest would be first come first serve. I'm looking to create a place where people of any level can come and discuss, play, get feedback and learn. I am not looking to create a place of elitist back-rubbing or a new/separate community from the existing UKE forums.
So if you're even slightly interested or have any suggestions of how we should pursue this please drop a reply so I can get an idea of what I should do.
The server is set in the UK (85.236.100.67:27015) through multi-play, it might be a bit laggy for anyone outside of Europe but the games would be more about design and discussion than having super smooth games; so all are welcome. I was thinking of doing the main test on sundays, about 8pm gmt.
Thanks for your time.
