Subnautica: Beyond

Alright so I had an awesome idea for a new subnautica game: Subnautica: Beyond. It would combine the maps of the existing games and would have some cool new vehicles! Sorry I ran out of time so tell me if you want to know more! Alright first off are the vehicles. This game has all the vehicles from both games and some new additions: The Remotely Operated Vessel for Exploration Reasons, or R.O.V.E.R., is a remote controlled small vehicle that can be docked at a vehicle with the ROVER docking bay upgrade module or a remote vehicle bay (detailed later). It has 2 arm module slots, 4 normal module slots, and one master slot that can fit any vehicle upgrade, like the cyclops shield. There is also the Reefdive, a huge sub, and the Multipurpose All-environment Capsule, or M.A.C., the first flying vehicle that functions similarly to the Seatruck. The parts of the Reefdive must be built separately and include the bridge, aquariums, habitation, generators, observatory, moonpools, cyclops moonpool, and seatruck module storage/scanners. They would be relatively cheap for this size of a sub but due to the complexity each survival player would only build one. More details soon to come!

Saved Game Gone

Anyone else get to the loading screen on launch day and find out their saved game was gone?

I like the game enough to play it again but I'd rather not have to. Is there a fix for this?

Minor ideas for Subnautica

Net Cannon: To capture medium size creatures (i.e. Jellyrays and Rabbitrays, they look really cool and I would love to have them inside my base.)
Large Aquarium: For aesthetics only, cylindrical shape that can be placed in the middle of a room or observatory to hold and display medium size creatures.
SeaBike/SeaZip/Skimmer: Underwater bike that is faster than a SeaMoth but offers little to no protection, can not dive below 75 meters, used for quickly getting from one place to to another.

That's all the ideas I have. Subnautica is a great game, I just have a few ideas that make make the game a little more fun or aesthetically pleasing.

Below Zero: Story Progression Bug (Spoilers)

I've gotten to all the Architect Artifacts that Al-An has wanted me to go to so far, but Architect Artifact PK8 has not registered, and I seem to be stuck.

When I initially approached the Artifact, Al-An started speaking as usual. Unlike usual, I scanned it as he was speaking. The scan completed early and I got no new PDA data regarding the artifact I scanned, and the marker says I haven't visited it. Did I bug the game out by scanning it before Al-An finished speaking? And if so, how do I fix this? I might be stuck as far as the story goes!

Below Zero: I'm Underwater and I can't Swim

I just started playing Below Zero. After visiting the Delta base for the first time, I went down to the shore and entered the water to return to the Pod, and found that I could not swim. Also, oxygen levels were not going down, so I wasn't dying from lack of air. Since I was playing the game mode that didn't require food or water, I don't know if those were affected.

I was basically moving underwater the way that I would on land, unable to swim, and only able to walk on the underwater surface and other solid features. Since I couldn't traverse all of the undersea terrain and obstacles to reach the Pod, or even get back to the shores of Delta base (I had wandered away from its shores too far and deep to be able to make it back up), I killed myself underwater by jumping several times from heights.

The swimming issue was fixed when Death sent me back to the Pod, but with all resources (minerals, etc.) gathered in that instance gone. Interestingly, non-resource items from Delta base, such as posters, equipment, etc. remained in my inventory. Also, all of the experience milestones, such as data, blueprints, etc. also persisted intact.

I did some online search on the issue, and couldn't find very much with regard to Below Zero. However, this phenomenon seems to also have been a problem in the original Subnautica game, going back years.

Is this a common issue for players in Below Zero?

And also, is there a better way to get rid of the problem than forcing character death, especially one that avoids losing inventory items like gathered resources? (There might even be situations where, if you've fallen into a deep undersea hole somewhere, that you won't be able to get to heights to jump to kill the character.)

Any feedback or comments from others would be appreciated.

More Vehicles?

There is a lot of people starting discussions on vehicles and more base parts, blah, blah...
This is getting a bit out of control and things just seem a big silly and or not with the spirit of the game. For example ANY HOVERCRAFTS! all the hovercraft ideas are just plain weird and seem cheaty. A very fast vehicle that hovers above the water carrying a cyclops worth of resources across the ocean within two seconds is stupid, this game is about exploration and the journy.
There are more ideas on weird hybrid seamoths, basically, people are trying to get the devs to make weird submersibles to fulfil their every need.
This game is about adventure and the struggle for surviving, the moment when you realise you're about to die from thirst! I just don't think we need all these new funky ships floating around!

Anyway, that's just my opinion, so vote and tell us why you think we need a wider range of things to traverse the seas, or if we've got enough already.

Minor suggestion regarding tying storylines together (SPOILERS!)

One big problem I see with Below Zero is that the story you start with is not connected to the story you end the game with. In fact you can completely ignore Sam's story and still complete the game. I feel that's a big flaw in the story both from the gameplay progression standpoint and from a storytelling standpoint. If the player follows Sam's story to its completion, they'll get some goodies but also a dead end and if you strictly follow it, it doesn't lead to Al-an. However, I believe that it can be fixed pretty easily, something that can be done with a patch and all it would require is a few extra voicelines and some scripting changes. All that needs to be done is tie together Al-an's story and Sam's story is this:

The cure. Al-an's entire purpouse on being on the planet was about the cure. Sam had the cure. In fact, that is the only way for us to get the cure because Robin's PDA did not have that data on hand. Al-an should be VERY interested in the cure. So much so that he should be more obsessed about getting it than he would about his body.

So what I propose is fundamentally this: Al-an would not start up the portal to his homeworld without the cure. You can make him his body but he'll just stand around that portal facility, interfacing with some terminals ("re-establishing the network and trying to reacquire lost data") until he has both a sample of the cure and proof/data that it works. It makes perfect sense that he would. He cannot go back home empty-handed. He would need not only the blueprint, but a produced sample for his own analysis and a tissue sample of the cured leviathan (just a knifed or picked up sample). Not only would this tie the two stories together gameplay-wise but also give a greater purpose to that moment: it would be a moment of salvation for Al-an. This is how he gets the data he sacrificed and suffered so much for, what he almost- and his colleagues died both for and from. What is closure for Robin is nothing less than a glorious salvation of a species-ending plaque for Al-an.

There could also be other tweaks made. The PDA message where Sam tells you/herself where she hid the antidote should be given to you by Margeurit after you disable the Alterrra tower. A few extra voicelines from Al-an commenting on the situation and the cure.

I also believe that Robin should have the option to talk with Margeurit about a few topics. Namely her role in Sam's death, which lead to Sam's and Parvan's death. How she survived with Alterra being present. Details about how and why they left (I finished the game and tried to collect all the PDAs but I still don't know why everyone suddenly left when there were miners and researchers present). Why she ignored Al-an's distress call. And finally, there should be a dialog before Robin leaves with Al-an, I felt that I should have had a scene where I say goodbye andgiving her my old stuff I won't need.

(Spoilers) Below Zero: Why did Alterra leave?

Disclaimer: I haven't read all PDA entries but I listened to the voiceovers.

Can someone please explain to me, why Alterra withdrew everyone fro 4546B and didn't come back?
I played Below Zero a lot but I never understood, why Marguerit is the only other human on the planet. As far as I understand it, most employees survived, the bases could be repaired quite easily and the bacteria in the frozen leviathan should be a pretty strong incentive to keep people on the planet. After the incident an investigator was sent to the planet, but after that everyone just left. That makes no sense to me.

Below Zero - Sea-Dragons around Island are far too loud.

The central island has a BZ's version of a sandshark who loiter around the Main Island.
They look like super bad-ass, Sea Dragons and they sound terrifying.

The issue is that they sound TOO terrifying, too loud and too persistent that other threats and issues have difficulty announcing their presence with their own audio cues.
Well the prime example is, in the purple vents biome which is patrolled by one of those horrific squid things that will REALLY damage my SeaTruck or
straight up make krakenfodder out of me if I am without medkits and a fast means of escape or hiding.

But all I hear is radio Sea-Dragons, which I know m'ah 'Truck can handle, and then I found out I just awakened the Kraken, or one of my kids.....

[Audio] Metallic clicking sound when walking

Hello,

There is a very annoying metallic click sound that seems to mix-up with the footsteps. Here's a video, I removed all the audio to keep only the sounds that we cannot control: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HxknEM_6Gx8aNPihysqQkJw63SqDY5sL/view?usp=sharing

If there's a quick fix that I can do or anything to try, let me know.
It appears to be on all of my games as well as old ones. It didn't occured last time I played (like 6 months ago).

May be a bad connection in Wwise or something like that.

Thanks!

Subnautica what’s next?

$

I’m making this thread because as below zero gets closer to release, I keep finding myself thinking “where does the franchise go from here” and so I wanted to both present my idea and and give the community a place to discuss their ideas for where they’d like to see the franchise go, anything from creatures to gameplay, to plot ideas. Let’s give the devs something to work with!

That being said this is my idea for what I’d like to see next on planet 4546B

Subnautica: Dark waters

An Altera research team has been sent to investigate a newly discovered precursor facility located in the void, unlike other facilities on the planet this one named “site omega” is practically a City protected from colossal leviathans in the Void by a large forcefield, it rapidly becomes apparent that this facility was designed in desperation by the precursors to manufacture new species in a hope to replicate the enzyme they were unable to extract from the emperor species, making the entire facility a sort of huge zoo of genetic anomalies. While working with your team to recover and study whatever alien technology was left behind, something cuts the power to the barrier leading to one of the colossal leviathans outside to damage the structure which rapidly begins flooding resulting in the manufactured leviathans escaping their tanks into the now flooded sections. You would either play a character on the surface trying to find a way to save the research team, in a more classical subnautica style of gameplay, or if the game were to lean more into the horror element you would be a member of the trapped team trying to find a way to the surface so you can call for help.

Will we get a third game?

Will we ever find out what happened after the credits roll?
There is so much I want to see, so much more I want to do, and thank you developers, for creating my favorite games!

Same Crash on Switch (67869)

I was previously experiencing the loading screen crash from saving in my cyclops. The patch released and my save became playable again, but not for long. I'm now experiencing almost exactly the same crash at "Loading 40%... Loading world 10%". This time it does get far enough to play voice lines and show crush depth notifications like I mentioned in my last post.

This time I saved in my PRAWN suit in an area that I believe is called "the junction" or "the river" or something (near the Disease Research Facility), at the bottom of one of those green underwater rivers.

Cannot Build or Enter Various Ships

Hello, my save got a little glitchy after I built the prawn suit. It started when I went to the Jelly Shrooms in my suit and got out. I was then unable to get back in!...as in the option for "enter" was not there. I was also unable to access the storage or batteries, like the suit was a prop.
I did it again to the same result.
I then turned off the game and my switch completely and booted up once more. It seemed okay for a minute but after some playing I got out of the suit and was unable to get back in - this time in the safe reef! Then suddenly I was unable to build despite having resources and the same bug affected my Seamoth. Three whammies!
Is there anything I can do?

Hey guys!

Subnautica is currently in Early Access and as such you may from time to time encounter bugs and in the worst case, crashes. If you have issues with stability of Subnautica, please post your issues with as much detail as possible (video/screenshots/descriptions), followed by the following requested information:

Example Topic Title:
[Crash] Open my Locker and Crash! [Version Number]

1) Please run dxdiag.exe (search windows for it) on your systems and hit the button 'save all information' in the bottom right. Save this file for later.

LHmLsSd.png

2) Navigate to your Subnautica Folder in Steam (should be steamapps\common\Subnautica)

3) Open the Subnautica_Data folder and grab a copy of 'output_log.txt'

PJAwuF0.png

4) Upload all the text of these to something like http://pastebin.com/ and post the public links to them with your forum posts.

These 2 files will GREATLY help us in tracking down issues with Subnautica. Thanks!

Edit by Jonas:
We've also got a very similar guide with pictures for each step on Steam.
And as in every good tech support:
  • Please make sure that your Windows is up to date.
  • Please make sure that your drivers are up to date.
  • Please make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements.
  • Please close all other applications before starting the game.
  • Have you tried turning it off and on again? ;)

Below Zero PS5 - Lost game save, game breaking bug [44154]

Hello.

I am playing Below Zero on the PS5, build number 44154.

I was 17 hours in when I tried to save and the game said that it failed to save. I tried it multiple times and it did not work.

I restarted the game and the save game was gone. I was at the end of the game and it just... dissapeared.

The save files are big enough on the PS5 for me to think that its still there, but for some reason not showing up in the game.

I have restarted and redownloaded the game many times, also once without the updtates to no avail.

This is a game breaking bug, as it makes you lose EVERYTHING, which really sucks. I didnt think that an officialy released game would have something this game breaking in it.

I hope that this can get fixed. Thank you.

Disabling HUD? (XBOX SOLVED)

UPDATE: On console there's a developer mode that allows you access to change the game and enable console commands. Press START+RB+LB and you should see 'Developer' appear in your start menu. Click developer and you should see 'Graphics' and in that menu there's a 'Hide HUD' option.

Is there a current method to disable HUD on Subnautica or Xbox? (So nothing is on my screen for a cinematic view/screenshots) If anyone knows it would be really helpful thanks. Btw new to the game so if it's in an obvious spot like the options, I never launched the game yet it's still downloading so just let me know lol.
