Give Early Access Feedback to the Dev Team

[Bellow Zero] Feedback from the previous game, suggestion for improvement

$
0
0
The first game was pretty damn good and I backed Bellow Zero as soon as it went out.
Here is a set of Feedback suggestion for improvement:

FLASHLIGHT
- make the flashlight keep pointing forward when you run

FOOD & WATER
- It was fun at first but repetitive later, especially since we could "farm" inside the Cyclop anyway.
- My hope for the next game:
Have a craftable ENDGAME food that last longer so we can store those for expedition,

WRECKS:
- Your gameplay-gate didn't work well, it's frustrating to bypass the need for special tools and arrive in a room you already visited when you do use them.
- I suggest putting WRITTEN NAME on them so players can name their Beacons like that

BEACONS
- give us a way to rename them from the PDA and change their icons
- The 2nd big problem is that they clutter the screen and yet are too useful for navigation to hide.
Suggestion:
make the furthest ones away fade when you aren't in a vehicle capable of reaching them,
give a player button in the PDA to Show/Hide them all at once

BATTERIES
- Have every vehicles/tools made without batteries, I ended up with tons of extra for nothing

Seaglide
- I never used it's hologram and often want it off, I only needed the light.
- The range with 1 battery is way too short late game, please let us improve it late game.

SONAR
- Make the 3D mesh persistent when we aren't moving,
- It was extremely frustrating when you just needed the mesh to stay visible and yet had to use 20 pulses to plan your ways

FAUNA
- I couldn't tell if the various fish had behavior, you should look into that and make it so the player can use it peacefully.

PLAYER EQUIPMENT
- it could be nice to have a suit made for "stealth" that sacrifice protection for that.

DRONE & SCANNER ROOM
- Don't make drones spawn with the building, they duplicate when you remove/rebuild the structure
- Please let us craft self-powered antenna that increase the control range of both Drone & Scanner, it was painful to have to move the entire building around.
- Let the Drone Scan Animals, to offset the cost you can let them be targeted by FAUNA when you do the scan.
- Please give use a way other than random luck of "guessing" where are important locations.

SEAMOTH
- I ended up never using the torpedoes and they were too hard to aim with anyway, what their point in a non-violent game anyway?
- Rework the sound gameplay, make it possible to escape predator by not moving / firing a decoy far away.
- It need more module slot because at some point you are never going to use it without the Depth improvement and the Sonar.

PRAWN SUIT
- Have the lights follow the direction the player is watching
- Allow the ability to crouch even if you can't move (it would have helped me when I got stuck)

CYCLOPS Submarine
- Change the control interface so we can look down in front of use without using the camera and loosing most functionality
- Fix the light, sometime exterior-light make it harder to see outside even with interior light-off
- Make exterior-light point in more direction including up,
- Rework the "sound gameplay", use the Klaxon to drive off small carnivore, the Sonar IS sound.
As a trade off : consider making "silent mode" not produce oxygen anymore. So one way to escape Leviathan is to literally hold your breath.
- Make the beacon propel further away and keep the Leviathan attention away.
- Remove overheat at full speed (why punish player who need to cross long distance at the surface?)
- Make overheat happen if you keep the shield powered for too long.

If you want player to accept loosing a submarine instead of restoring a save game I suggest making it into a near-dead state that can be salvaged.

SEABASE
- Make the bulkhead and armor more useful.
If you don't want animal attack : make rare Earthquake (screen shacking) that reduce the Seabase resistance for a short time, so you have to better protect it or have to repair it.
If you want animal attack : Make a screen that allow deactivating seabase light and system, if the base is too loud/showy it will trigger attack
- Don't make energy storage into the generator,
If you push it into the Energy Cell, then you can balance the generator based on the power they generate per minutes.

SEABASE AQUARIUM
- I remember reading you had problems and this feature ended up underused
- I suggest making "balanced aquarium ecosystem" a requirement to farm some plants.
Ex: you can't grow Kelp unless you have an aquarium with some fish from the Kelp-biome creatures, show the list of the creatures/plants missing in the planting interface if you scanned it.

OVERALL QUALITY OF LIFE
- Don't make Seeds take so much space in the inventory, have the bigger icon displayed when you pass over it.
- Please make a storage upgrade for the Seabase and the Cyclops, accessible from outside/inside. It will save a LOT of time during mining operation.
- Please give a way to unload/load the content of the Suit storage into a Cyclops storage or a Seabase storage without having to do it by the players inventory.

Make suggestion... horribly unsuited for Subnautica (Below Zero Edition)

Reviving this thread in the name of Fun, all is in the title.

HERE ARE MY HORRIBLE SUGGESTION :

- Do not improve the previous game in any way, do not rework any mechanics even the bad and frustrating one, it must be all of the same, just with extra ice cube here and here.

- Make a weapon that shoot penguin as munition

- As it's an essential part of survival, make it possible to craft:
A super poison that kill EVERY SINGLE PLANTS AND ANIMAL around in a few second, you would have a SEAMOTH module to deploy them while you stay safe inside, the absolute ENDGAME poison would be capable of killing even the largest Leviathan.

Previous opening:
- Make the Artic biome into a 2x2km block of Ice and we have to dig every centimeter of our way with the Prawn to make a way for the Cyclops.
- We should add Underwater Rifles and Harpoons, and lot of dangerous alien to blast, some of them small and humanoid, to be creepy. (please don't ban me! please don't ban me! please don't ban me!)

- This is the future, replace O2 tank by a battery powered that automatically supply us oxygen, 1 hour per Power-cell

- Add another team of human-NPC who use military submarines you can steal so we have torpedo warfare against them, modify the Cyclops to have a torpedo module

Current Bug List for PS4 Console Release of Subnautica

$

0
In an attempt to make an organized effort to help bring awareness of the ongoing or current bugs in the Playstation 4 release, I want to list the bugs that I have encountered in the game. So with that being said if you personally have experienced any bugs that I haven't listed then please feel free to add them. If you have information, clues, screenshots, or videos to share that may help the developers pin down, find the source of, or duplicate the problem, please share those as well.

Current PS4 Bug list (post 1.06 update)

1. Screenshots disappear when saving game.
Cant share anything. Makes bug reporting less useful. Cant use Picture Frame (nothing to put in it).
(Rumor is this will be fixed on next update)

2. Fabricator wont list HUD Thermometer even when Blueprint unlocked.
Item is listed in Blueprints but you cant create it. When swimming or building thermal power plants we have no way of knowing if we are even in hot water till you take damage, at which point it becomes very obvious.
(Rumor is this item was removed from the game, so it must be a ghost of a very useful item)

3. Aggressive fauna glitching into base and into alien containment, then going about a killing spree.
I have had this happen numerous times mostly with Biters. Only once I had a Sandshark in my base but he didn't make it into the alien containment before I discovered him.
(Seems to be an ongoing issue)

4. The Lifepod beacon icon floats onscreen when shut off in beacon manager after restart.
This happens every time game restarts. You have to turn beacon back on, then turn it back off every time you play.

5. Base and Lifepod can be seen across entire gaming area.
Seems like a waste of resources, the RAM should be focused on local video instead of rendering something you should not possibly even be able to see. Could be affecting framerate drops as the size of your base gets larger.

6. Schools of fish swim right through base.
(Seems to be an ongoing issue)

7. Door to Prawn room (Aurora) would not open from upper access.
Not sure if this was an intentional change or glitch because you can still access the Prawn room from a lower access point, but when i played the PC version this door worked when panel was repaired.

8. Bladderfish extinction.
This is NOT due to over use as a resource. Even if you immediately use salt and coral for water, and they are still abundant, they still vanish. As a result you cannot build Air Bladder.

9. Cuddlefish vanishes.
This usually happens within probably 30 to 40 mins. After being gone for a couple weeks (probably 2 to 3 days of game time). Reappears then vanishes again... This seems unavoidable on the PS 4.

10. Fauna suddenly for no reason bolt off like an arrow at unrealistic speeds. Non provoked.
I have seen this with Bonesharks, Jellyrays, Gasopods, Rabbitrays, and even a Reefback Leviathan. This seems to happen more and more as you progress in the game.

I am going to mention a couple things but not put them on the list because they are not bugs:

The PS4 Bug/Feedback window doesn't let you know when the text has reached its limit. Almost every time I have reported half of what I said was lost and cut off mid sentence. Its been very frustrating with no ability to save a screenshot to explain these bugs in detail when you are limited to 190 characters of text. This is not a sufficient amount of space when trying to convey the bug itself and the circumstances of how to recreate the details of the bug.

I would also like to add that it is also a frustration to know that with all the bugs that haven't been fixed we are still limited to one save slot in a survival game. This just seems unreasonable when days of progress can be ruined with one wrong save that makes a glitch or bug permanent. Nothing to fall back on.

XBOX UNOFFICIAL BUG POST
Started this Post originally to get the ball rolling didn't realise how many would respond, so if you have bugs that are not on the list just mention it within the comment section below, depending on free time and playing subnautica it may take me awhile to respond or even update the list, thanks from a fellow subnautica fan for the help guys. Hopefully the major bugs will get fixed and help get the game running smoother in the foreseeable future

BUGS

- any building block's I place that goes through or slightly into the reef/ rocks & plant life will be Terra formed as expected but if you load or come back to the Area after a journey it will go back to its original form and glitch through the building block deny access through walkways etc.

- when a breach floods your base fish will swim through or spawn in the base, even found fish swimming/ floating even without a breach. while in the Cyclops/ big sub if you hold a snap block/ base building item's while in the sub it did a 360 spinning around demolishing anything in sight.

- found wreckage parts, doors, flood lights and reef parts floating in the sky.

- frame rate issues

- game crashes often even more so while playing in creative (to as expected)

- picking up alien fish even while directly next to it does not work sometimes (hit box to small?)

BUG LIST UPDATED [18/05/16]

- Crashed while in the seamoth to where it looked like I was on the edge of space treading water. No amount of restarting fixed it. When I finally died a hour later due to dehydration, I spawned back where the life pod was with my vehicle bay and lifepod gone. I didn't see the seamoth beacon either. Restarted the game -

- Third game crashed while I was next to the aurora and out scanning fragments. When the game reloaded I was back at the pod. The base i built and my vehicle bay were gone and again I didn't see my seamoth beacon -

- I deleted my survival and started a new one to try and get crash powder to spawn, and it worked! I made a welder and fixed the pod. I put the welder in the pod storage. Went out to start a base, and when I came back the pod was gone. The pod beacon said it was way off in the distance, I traveled for 5 min and got nowhere - xNeil_Armstrong

- I also had a glitch happen last night that I got stuck in my Seamoth and couldn't get out and every time I tried to press the A button to get out it would say " SpawnFailed ". It fixed after I restarted the game twice - MayaMidnight

- ealier today when i loaded up subnautica my survival world broke. The world outside my escape pod doesn't load up anything its just a huge blank open ocean no land no fish nothing. Im not sure what caused it as i saved and exited to main menu before i got off last time - Fearingsix

BUG LIST UPDATED [09/06/16]

- Hi I am new to the game on Xbox. I wanted to report that the game also crashes while being in the main menu just sitting in idle. I wanted to pause the game in the main menu and come back later. I tried if it was accidental but the game crashes every time while idle in main menu. It does it within an hour and quite some turns now. - oelikoelie

- I found that fragments in my game despawn mid-scanning period when I'm bitten by a Biter. Really annoying, 'cause I really need a mobile vehicle bay. - Darwin-Evolution

- it only happened once but I tried to get into my base via moonpool but when I went into it, I fell through the base and landed on the ground (underwater) like I was on land. Only for me to realize that my oxygen was not going down and I was walking underwater (like my base) and I had to climb up to my hatch to "leave my base" - trainman16

- sometimes if I look down while I am in my base it slows my walking speed to nearly 5% - Melinity

- As soon as I finished building a multi-purpose room the game crashed and I lost all of my data, the game denies that I have created any saved games - Rawrr

- I just sealed up the radiation leak and decided to head home. Upon entering my base you could constantly hear the sound of your character obtaining air from the purple brains that release 3 bubbles of air every now and then. - destinykid

- Glitch threw sea-moth while docking into moon pool causing you to sink until you hit bottom. - JONNYK301

- Your base will become transparent while in the Cyclops. - Olympicwolf

- closing bulkheads crashes the game - bbot0625

anything else that comes to me I will update this post, also anyone can contribute to the list, I know its a preview and all just here to help, also to note I will have no idea if and when these bugs are fixed (guessing after a bug update in the near future) so when that happens I will keep it up to date.

SPOILER WARNING Bug or wrong item? Acces to "Lava-castle"

SPOILER WARNING

I don't know if I've come accross a bug or not. I don't known how to post in the forums eventhough I've been a member for more than 24 hours, so I'm posting here.

I wen't into the 'lava-castle' -the alien base at 1451 meters depth. I had left my Prawn suit with the first depth upgrade around 1200 meters down and swam the rest of the way down to the base. Past the huge octopus lizard monster. The gate was open and I ran in without activating the door. I scanned everything and left again without using any of the portals. Now I can't get in again. There's a green "forcefield" and a stool that opens up with an opening for a tablet. I have several in my inventory -the ones with the purple symbol. I go to the stool and hit A. Nothing happens. I can't drop the tablets from my inventory or set them to the 'ready-at-hand-menu'.

Is this a bug that has been triggered by me going into the base at first and then leaving where I came in without going through any of the portals?

I read somewhere about being able to make a 'blue-tablet'? I don't have that option on my tablet.

I have tried to find the answer in the forums, by google and on YouTube but I keep having things spoiled for me, so if anybody could answer this pecific I would be overcome with joy.

Thankyou in advance. I love this game more than anything in the whole world
and I'm not kidding.

Underwater Save Bug

Hello Subnautica formumers! (or whatever they are called these days) My game is broken. I mean, broken. So, one day I was playing and couldn't get back to my cyclops because I was lost exploring a wreck. So what do I do? I save my game. While swimming. Since I died I left the game, reloaded my save, and the game is broken. When I say the game is broken, I mean it. The PDA is broken, vehicles are broken, sea bases are broken, I can't pick up items, (fish, shale chunks, etc.) literally everything freezes, the PDA is stuck to my hand, other items as well are stuck, can't close out of the pause menu, all the buttons in the pause menu can't be pressed, the whole shebang. I can, however, still swim. It is not that "ocean is drained" bug. Since then, I myself have found no other users that have encountered this problem, and the first thing i thought to my self was "let's try to revert to my last save." I successfully did using the built-in windows file recovery system. I opened the game, went to my last save, and crossed my fingers, and nothing changed. So after that, I thought to my self " well maybe it's the save file in general," and then I started a new survival game. Oh, and may I also mention, the beginning cut scene doesn't play. So I skipped it holding escape, and nothing changed. At this point, I realized that the game itself had been glitched and I tried uninstalling the game and re-installing it and still, nothing happened. So I uninstalled it again, but this time, i made sure that it was uninstalled by doing a system-wide search for "subnautica*" and found a bunch of files that the Epic Games launcher didn't delete, like I don't know maybe the actual save game folder in APPDATA. Then, I proceeded to re-install the game and still, nothing changed. At this point, posing to the forums was my last hope. And here we are. I know for a typical forums bug post you need to include your system specs and your output log for the game.

I've seen the things go right through the sea floor sometimes. There was one time where one did catch me while I was in my unmodified Seamoth. It eventually let go, and I hightailed it back to base. I'm sure it was going to give chase to finish me off, so I instinctively (yeah... gamer instincts) flew around pillars, ducked through tunnels, and moving evasively as possible to ensure my survival. Thankfully I didn't get caught... Yet I've seen at least one YouTuber (8-Bit Ryan's second Subnautica video) try to hide in a tunnel from one only to be snatched up and eaten by it..

I just started using Decoda today (newly purchased license) and I'm having trouble getting anything in the settings screen at all to persist between runs of the application - everything from the font and color settings to the "Load last project on startup" toggle. Is this a recent bug? Thanks in advance.

Ideas for Below Zero

Here are some ideas for Below Zero, I have had kicking around in my head, since I started playing Subnautica over 4000 hours ago. 1. Collectables: Make them scanable, this way, we can make them or not, in the quantities we need to decorate our bases. Items like, microscopes, analyzers, flasks, containers, model of Aurora, unique doll, nutrient bar, etc. Plus those decorative base pieces we see in the game, that don't function, but look awesome. 2. Put in some Cyclops Wrecks we can loot. Some of the Cyclops subs could have made it up here before being abandoned, a few being totally pimped out. We could find them, loot them for missing collectables and blueprints. 3. You could also do that for an alien sub/space ship or two. It would give us an idea what they used their moon pool for. Plus we could find and loot some cool alien tech from them.

What would you think about exploring space and a new planet in subnautica below zero. Not making i a space game but being in space a bit would be nice.

Couple of ideas for scanner rooms

$
0

1. When you get into a scanner room and operate one of the cameras, the camera should default to the ones attached to the scanner room you are currently standing in at that time. As it is currently, If I click to control the camera in, for example, scanner room 5, it will try to connect to camera 1, which is attached to scanner room 1 over 1000m away. It's just silly. I then have to move scroll through all the available cameras until I get to the one attached to the room I'm currently standing in. With non descriptive labels such as 'Camera 1' this can be an absolute nightmare if you have several scanner rooms like I have.

2. Some type of central control for all scanner rooms. You could tell all your scanner rooms to all scan for the same thing, with just one click, instead of having to manually drive around to all individual scanner rooms and go inside and manually pick from the list. It would be a nice touch, if all the scanner room locations showed up on some kind of map, along with range rings, showing you immediately via visuals, how much of the map you have currently covered with scanner room range.

I think these two things would make scanner rooms immensely more useful and less tedious to use.

I have the Steam edition. When I select "Play," it will show "Running" in the library for just a few seconds, change to "syncing" momentarily and then nothing. I've tried to look for the logs that are requested for crash reports for regular Subnautica in the Below Zero directories, but I don't see anything like them.

Below Zero blueprint acquisition

Having recently finished Subnautica and started Below Zero, I have to say that there is one mechanic that really didn't translate well into the new game.

Running around looking for wrecked parts at the bottom of the ocean/caves.
Seriously, why do I have to scavenge for data that can be sent to me by the orbital station that I can literally see from the surface?

Now I get that it's a big, and very important, part of the progression. But the whole reason why it worked so well in the first game is that it was a narrative mechanic, it was literally a part of the story. In Below Zero, it's not only not a part of the story, it's working against the story.
Luckily, it can be swapped for another mechanic that not only fits the new plot, but also actively awards exploration.

Remember how the Alterra corp is the kind of douches that literally claim ownership of your salvage? Remember the poster in the original base that promised a reward if you found alien tech?
Would anyone be surprised if they demanded payment for transferring blueprints to a stranded employee?

It could be implemented with a research tree, or revealed recipes as the story progresses. Either way it's better that the current copy paste of a mechanic that doesn't translate well from one game to the other.

Cannot find Alien Thermal Plant / Power genrator

I need the Blue Tablet but I cannot find the Alien Thermal Plant for the life of me. However, I've found the primary containment facility in the lava zone.

My base is in the lost river very close to the alien facility in the lost river.
I have spent hours looking for it, anyone have clues on how to find it?
