Crazy about hive score... why?

Why are some people so crazy obsessed with their hive score?

Just came from a server where we started a 3v3 seeding game... Suddenly one guy starts flipping out because his team had an afk for 10 seconds (literally the person he was trying to kick typed he was there in time to prevent the vote from passing.. then they got mad at the "toxic community" and left) then as more people are joining the guy suddenly starts raging again because it ended up 5v7, and he was saying that only happened because people were stacking due to hive score.

You can't even join a team if they are up a player! Like the thing he was complaining about isn't even possible. (at least not on that server)

He F4'd and raged in the ready room that entire game about how it was unfair, how people stack for hive score, and on and on. (and his team almost won - if only he hadn't raged...)

Then in the next game the other team ends up being down 2 players for over 10 minutes... He didn't make a peep. Was all too happy to play that game out silently.


I just don't get it. Why do people like this care about the score SO MUCH? I mean freaking out over a 10 second afk in a 3v3 seeding game?? That's taking it pretty far. Borderline insanity.

Disclaimer:

I had not so much fun playing a video game since years.This game is really exceptionally well made.Finaly a survival game on a water planet.I have waited for that for years and the game totaly delivered, in most areas.Especially the water effects look extremly good and lifelike.I have never in any other game seen so watereffects like that.Its a pure joy to jump in.They look only bad if you climb ontop of one of the mountains and see the texture pattern line up to diagonal lines from high above.



Multiplayer:

My first thought towards multiplayer was, that i want to play this game rather alone to get the best possible feeling of isolation.If i had another person constantly on my side then the exploration of the deep see would have been not as scary and intense.For my personaly taste even the story arc with the Sea Emperor Leviathan feels kind of forced and out of place. Having some intelligent creature around you which you can communicate with and which is on your side, works kind of against the feeling of isolation this game creates so well. So i personaly wouldnt have mind if the story arc about the Sea Emperor would be optional and she would not apear in the ending of the game.

But then i realized that a optional multiplayer mode wouldnt hurt that experience at all. I still could play it in singleplayermode and after i got bored of singleplayer i could try to build a base with my friends together. But i think on the long run multiplayer would only be interesting if you could also play against each other. Like 2 teams trying to find the location of the others teams base and try to destroy it(like in some minecraft mods).

So that brings me to the real thing which holds this game back (in my mind), even when its overall a great game:



You cant build a 100% non violent survival game:

We as humans feel mostly alive if we experience danger in some sort(look at all the action or adventure movies). And there is no real danger without violence,at least in some way.

You cant build a 100% non violent survival game about the exploration of a hostile and dangerouse world filled with predators who want to attack you.Thats basically a paradox/logical contradiction on its own (like jumping in the water without getting wet), even subnautica has a knive in it and the enemy creatures try to attack you. I think this game takes this whole idea of a non violent video game way to far,even for a pg 13 product. Even in super mario bros you can kill your enemys. But in this game you have to knive a stalker for an entire minute and then it starts to rotate around its axis in a weird way, which should probably indicate that it is dizzy and only if you knive it further after a very long time it finaly dies. This whole process of not really beeing able to kill the bigger creatuers, or at least creatuers which are your size fast, has taken me imediately out of the imersion, because its just not realistic or fun.

And thats where my general problem(well its not really a problem maybe rather a slight disliking of this aspect) with the game is.I know this game is ment to be a pg 13 game to maximize the target group. And therefor allmost all the creatures have cute or dorky looking human face expersions like you can see in this stalker image: http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Stalker?file=Stalker_Fauna.png so that the kids can bound and relate better to those creatures.And the difficulty is very easy, so that you can avoid most enemy attacks easily and the one which you cant avoid do normaly very little damge(with very few exceptions only).Even the leviathans do not see you most of the time, even then when you are really close to them as long as you dont swim directly into their face you can mostly very easy sneak pass them.And when you have realized that, then this game starts to get pointless.Because if you can outplay almost 100% of the dangers and enemy creatures with little to no effort, then there is just not anymore a real sense of danger or risk vs reward/high stakes and the suvrival experience becomes very shallow.

So overall its a greate game but i feel this game is hold back by its extremly low difficulty and the aproach that you dont have any weapons at all beside the knive, not even a harpoon gun or bow on the islands. I mean what is the difference between killing a crap spider with a knive or a bow or killing a fish with a knive or a harpoon gun, beside of that combat is far more annoying and tedious to do, if you have to close combat knive a creature 100 times to death instead of shooting at it. If you could harpoon the bone shark creatures then gameplay around those creatuers could be way more fun and complex instead of kniving them and then hoping that they run away.Or turning constatnly the light of your seamoth on and out like a stroboscope in a dance club. Sure this game lies its emphasis more on avoidng danger and running away then engaging the danger.But again if you can avoid the danger as easy as in this game, then the whole survival aspect becomes very shallow and meaningless.

Conclusion:

If this game had modding support and everyone could mod the already great game in a way that suits his or her taste and an additional hard mode (well if the game had modding support you could mod a hard mode anyways) then it could be just as succsessfull as minecraft was, but without this ingredient the game will stay way behind of its possibilitys even in terms of financial succsess. Sure it will make probably a good amount of money but it could make so much more money (minecraft dimensions of money), if it just would use its entire potential.They are wasting alot of potential here.

Moon's have reappeared. This occurs when looking up at night while under water. Bringing up the F1 menu seems to make this disappear. Will provide a link to some screen shots. Any fixes for this?

(on stable number 59785) I still can't build the launch pad. Is it suppose to be like that? I have the blueprint gather the materials take it up and try to build it. It take the material and does not give me the pad. Still don't have the blueprint for the rocket. Do I need that?

Weird Cyclops docking bug

This is happening on version 49570

Description:
Trying to dock Prawn into the Cyclops but missing the actual docking bay will send Cyclops away.

Reproduction steps:
1. Spawn Cyclops and Prawn
2. Position Cyclops so that the bay doors aren't open when Prawn is under the Cyclops
3. Jump up with the Prawn and miss the docking bay and collide with Cyclops (might take a few tries)
4. If done correctly, it will send Cyclops away.

Is there anything official that we can use to refer to the player character? It doesn't need to be an actual name, something like what Fallout does with the Sole Survivor, or Skyrim with the Last Dragonborn, or Dark Souls with the Chosen Undead would all be adequate as well. I just need something to refer to them as. It's not something that needs to be immediate, but it is bothering me a fair bit.

Started this Post originally to get the ball rolling didn't realise how many would respond, so if you have bugs that are not on the list just mention it within the comment section below, depending on free time and playing subnautica it may take me awhile to respond or even update the list, thanks from a fellow subnautica fan for the help guys. Hopefully the major bugs will get fixed and help get the game running smoother in the foreseeable future

BUGS


- any building block's I place that goes through or slightly into the reef/ rocks & plant life will be Terra formed as expected but if you load or come back to the Area after a journey it will go back to its original form and glitch through the building block deny access through walkways etc.

- when a breach floods your base fish will swim through or spawn in the base, even found fish swimming/ floating even without a breach. while in the Cyclops/ big sub if you hold a snap block/ base building item's while in the sub it did a 360 spinning around demolishing anything in sight.

- found wreckage parts, doors, flood lights and reef parts floating in the sky.

- frame rate issues

- game crashes often even more so while playing in creative (to as expected)

- picking up alien fish even while directly next to it does not work sometimes (hit box to small?)

- Crashed while in the seamoth to where it looked like I was on the edge of space treading water. No amount of restarting fixed it. When I finally died a hour later due to dehydration, I spawned back where the life pod was with my vehicle bay and lifepod gone. I didn't see the seamoth beacon either. Restarted the game -

- Third game crashed while I was next to the aurora and out scanning fragments. When the game reloaded I was back at the pod. The base i built and my vehicle bay were gone and again I didn't see my seamoth beacon -

- Life Pod cannot be repaired SneezyPanda

- I deleted my survival and started a new one to try and get crash powder to spawn, and it worked! I made a welder and fixed the pod. I put the welder in the pod storage. Went out to start a base, and when I came back the pod was gone. The pod beacon said it was way off in the distance, I traveled for 5 min and got nowhere - xNeil_Armstrong

- I also had a glitch happen last night that I got stuck in my Seamoth and couldn't get out and every time I tried to press the A button to get out it would say " SpawnFailed ". It fixed after I restarted the game twice - MayaMidnight

- ealier today when i loaded up subnautica my survival world broke. The world outside my escape pod doesn't load up anything its just a huge blank open ocean no land no fish nothing. Im not sure what caused it as i saved and exited to main menu before i got off last time - Fearingsix

- water clipping through building blocks at surface level - IzaacJ

- character can easily get stuck on the banisters by any connecting corridor in the multifunction room, requiring you to save and quite to fix the issue - EVILONE15

- Hi I am new to the game on Xbox. I wanted to report that the game also crashes while being in the main menu just sitting in idle. I wanted to pause the game in the main menu and come back later. I tried if it was accidental but the game crashes every time while idle in main menu. It does it within an hour and quite some turns now. - oelikoelie

- I found that fragments in my game despawn mid-scanning period when I'm bitten by a Biter. Really annoying, 'cause I really need a mobile vehicle bay. - Darwin-Evolution

- it only happened once but I tried to get into my base via moonpool but when I went into it, I fell through the base and landed on the ground (underwater) like I was on land. Only for me to realize that my oxygen was not going down and I was walking underwater (like my base) and I had to climb up to my hatch to "leave my base" - trainman16

- sometimes if I look down while I am in my base it slows my walking speed to nearly 5% - Melinity

- As soon as I finished building a multi-purpose room the game crashed and I lost all of my data, the game denies that I have created any saved games - Rawrr

anything else that comes to me I will update this post, also anyone can contribute to the list, I know its a preview and all just here to help, also to note I will have no idea if and when these bugs are fixed (guessing after a bug update in the near future) so when that happens I will keep it up to date.

Performance concerns - is my PC up to Subnautica?

Hi, I've been finding out a lot about Subnautica and like what I see. However, before I get my feet wet (doh!) I was wondering if the game needs a high-spec PC to run on. I have a good PC (memory, CPU) but with an average graphics card. I can run games like Farming Simulator smoothly and hope the same would be true of Subnautica. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it worth buying Subnautica and play on minimum requirements?

Hello, I’ve been looking for to buy Subnautica for over a year now and finally I got a computer to play on. But, only on the minimum requirements. Is it worth buying Subnautica and not play on the recommended. The site ”CanIRunIt?” says my computer can run it on the minimum requirements. Will it lag the whole time or do I get an acceptable experience?

My computer specs:

Ghost Leviathan near starting lifepod.

I went to explore the Lost River, because I got materials for Mk3 depth module (seamoth) way before the story advanced there.

Met the Ghost Levithans for the first time. They scared the breath out of me.

When traveling back to my lifepod, I noticed that a Leviathan was following me, and it was being ultra aggressive.
Once I made it to the grassy plains right before Shallows, it started clipping terrain, and even disappearing in it.

It attacked my Cyclopse so viciously at the surface level (0 m) that it pushed it 50 or so meters above sea level.

I've since managed to bug it out and leave it clipping terrain, and it seems to patrol now 200-300 m from my lifepod, below the terrain level.

I can leave my Seamoth near the seafloor, and it will swim up and destroy it and proceed to swim back into the terrain below the wiorld.

Afaik Ghost Leviatans aren't common in Sandshark/Stalker terrain?:)
