Eggs in Farming update

Hey guys, I've converted my old save from the update before H2O, and I'm trying to find stalker eggs, so I can hatch a stalker inside a large aquarium, dump a piece of scrap in there and harvest ALL OF THE TEETH!
problem is, I can't find any stalker eggs, the wiki suggests they should be in the kelp forests, but I'm not seeing them ..... out of the fish that I'm breeding for repopulation purposes..... only the spadefish are producing eggs........... Have stalker eggs even made it into farming?

Do you Challenge yourself while playing Subnautica

Giving the fact that the game has no established goals so far than plain survival i found that challenging myself sometimes keeps me pumped up to play the game :) Examples of challenges i previously set onto myself in the past. It can be any or a combination of several

Last as long as possible:

-Without making water from Airsacks
-Without making food out of any kind of fish (that one is hard, gotta last only on nutrient blocks then creepvine at beginning before reaching the island for fruits/vegetables/plants
-Without killing any fish whatsoever (that one is hard too specially after getting the seamoth, its hard to not speedbumps any of those lil buggers)
-Without getting damaged at all
-Without dying (obviously when not in a hardcore game)
-Without using airtanks and not die

or other challenges such as:

-Not get noticed at all by a Reaper
-Speedruns (i.e Get every poss blueprints + create/find/own every possible things + make a base in every biomes, the sky is the limits on possible speedruns)
-Create the most humongous base you can without using the Nocost/Item console cheat (yes, very time-consuming)

Im sure there are tons of other challenges i havent thought of too. Ill surely continue to challenge myself again in the future until the devs design concrete purposes story-wise for the game.

So tell me what are YOUR challenges peoples, im dead curious to know! :smiley:

[Linux] Black screen when starting the game

I have to ask the question: Is there any kind of testing on Linux before releasing an update? Because once again you broke the game.. Not as bad as the times before, but still.

When I start the game I only see a black screen. No main menu. But the console works, and I can connect to servers via the console or the Steam server browser. When I am on a server I get to the menu by pressing ESC, as usual.
If I disconnect, black screen again instead of the main menu.

GAME CRASHES AS APP IS OPENED

As a click on it, the window appears for a couple seconds then when it starts to fade on it IMMEDIATLY CRASHES!!!

For crying out loud, can we please fix the marine spawn from the IP to be in the direction the marine is facing? Not 45, 90, or 180 degrees from the direction your looking at...can't even shoot a skulk off the **** IP. That's all I want for Pete's sake. ...And please, just say yes. I don't want excuses or blame from anyone. Accept responsibility, check into it, and fix it. Thank you.

Bait

Alright, this is one of my more odd ideas, but what if bait?

Basically, I'm thinking that there could be two new types of item added to the game. The former is the bait itself, and it's as variable as it comes. But the latter, a cage-thing, is to hold the bait.

The only real way to explain my thoughts is an example. You go out, catch four or five Peepers. Go to the fabricator, craft them together to make Peeper Paste. It's this weird sludge stuff that basically dissolves instantly if you drop it in water. But, if you put it in the cage thing, it will attract any Stalkers within a hundred meters or so.

Not much more to say for this idea. Maybe also have bait for Sandsharks, Reapers (lure them into a cage, make life awesome), Bleeders, and so on.

On minimum settings and 1600*900, the game is running very slow, only 640*480 is playable but... This is so awful... and 9 time on 10 try, the game doesn't launch: After the Subnautica configuration launch, the screen stay black, and with luck the game show me a screen to say that my gpu is not good enough to handel the game (but my graphic card is best than the recommand config on steam, and my drivers are upgraded) and i cant click anywhere... This is very sad because i love the game, so please give me the possibility to solve this problem. I had 2 informations txt that the game had created during 2 launch crash, how can i give them to u ? I had send them on dropbox, but i dont know what is the adress to enable :hushed: . Good luck and thank you <3

Some Realistic Base Ideas (Concept images and reasons provided)

Hey guys, I've not been in the forums since 2015 when I did a poll to find where people wanted to place solar panels, so hello again, and I'll get to showing my ideas.
I've helped out with a few games, albeit never as a coder or scripter, so I can only be *quite* reasonable in my suggestions.

1. Room Light Tweaking

  • What is this idea? I had the largely ignored idea a while ago that we could be able to tweak the lighting in our bases, maybe even specific spaces between bulkheads.
  • Why include this? Firstly, player bases stick out like a sore thumb. The windows can be seen even through murky depths, and good luck sightseeing. Secondly, entering destroys your nightvision at nighttime even in real life. Also having a home that doesn't look like a hospital will be moodier, prettier and cosier!
  • How could this work? I'm thinking a menu like the vehicle displays, but with only the brightness slider. I don't know if it's possible to do in the engine, but the devs have changed base lighting multiple times, so maybe a more dynamic system can be patched in.
  • How can this be balanced? Easy. Darker bases are more atmospheric and hidden, but brighter bases can be used as landmarks.

2. Floor Openings

  • What is this idea? That we can make holes, balconies e.t.c. in rooms and maybe even corridors that are connected. Maybe just use glass without aquariums.
  • Why include this? I loved the spacious feel of looking up through the glass ceiling of the new large aquarium (great job devs, btw) and I think that at the cost of materials and structural integrity, we could be able to make less cramped rooms. A high ceiling, or balconies overlooking lower floors, would make a base feel homely and lavish.
  • How could this work? I know very little of how this would work, but since aquariums can stretch between floors, we can assume that their spaces can be joined together without instant crashes at least.
  • How can this be balanced? The advantage is mainly visual effect, but you will sacrifice resources and pressure resistance by doing it.

4. Observatory Junctions

  • What is this idea? That observatories could have multiple connections
  • Why include this? It would look many times better than X-Corridors, with visibility above and below the player.
  • How could this work? In terms of development, I don't know. But if generic rooms and moonpools can have attachment points patched in, then maybe here too.
  • How can this be balanced? Doing this at intersections will be structurally weaker than X-corridors, and have less space than rooms. However, visibility will be increased.

4. Beds
(No image because you can imagine it)
  • What is this idea? That we could place beds, maybe by scanning them first like chairs.
  • Why include this? Decoration and also some actual use.
  • How could this work? Just by being an interactive object that I imagine can change time. I *know* this is possible, because there are console commands for changing time, and we might not even need animations if the screen just fades out. I've also heard med bay chambers suggested, so *maybe* sleeping could restore health?
  • How can this be balanced? It doesn't really need much balancing. It takes space and resources, but gives you a decoration that can pass time.

Has anyone found them all yet and could help list out where they are in the new build? I'm having a lot of trouble finding things like the workbench for upgrading gear and the moon pool.

I'm even carrying 4 oxygen tanks so I can get a good few hundred metres down and I've yet to run into this stuff despite having searched all biomes except blood kelp since I can never find that place.

I had read of people finding these within the bone shark territory (forgotten the biome name) but all I can find there is millions of bio reactor fragments. Any ideas?

Netcode broken again

Hi guys. Fixing my last problem, after first CDT patch, took 1.5 years. Fortunately you have recognized that problem wasn't on my side, and I thank you that you fixed it, so I can continiue to play this great game.
But after a the latest patches I meet new problem, and I definitely think that this is a new bugs in the network code of the game. I found it on certain servers. Here is video:

I think no need to explain that something strange happens. This is only part of the problems that I encountered. Many other strange things are also happens. I hope this information is enough to understand the problem.
@CRaZyCAT_Rus have similar problems on this server.

[Linux] No sound

Current Ubuntu 15.04.

Earlier (maybe on Ubuntu 14.04 or maybe because of different NS2 build), I had around 50% probability that game launches with sound.

Now on every launch there is no sound.

i like to share my idea and i hope you like it and it gets implemented in to the game.

It's simple: Insteed of taking out every time the ressources out of the lockers, you can connect those lockers with the fabricator to create a pool.

My suggestion is to connect it with cables you can craft in the fabricator with a 60?cb=20150310083304 wiring kit or a 60?cb=20150310081725
advanced wiring kit.
You can install and place the cables on the wall (or ground and ceiling), so that you have a visual connection too.

Can't build a cyclops | Build 29160

So I started a new game to enable this new terrain etc... Got to the point where i found all the cyclops pieces and it said "new blueprint acquired". However I went to the mobile vehicle thing and it did not appear above or below the seamoth option. I hit tab and check the blueprints and it says I've only found 1/3 pieces. I tried starting another new game and the same thing happened. I tried scanning more cyclops fragments and just get titanium out of it. 25yua7m.jpg

What sort of base components would you like to see implemented?

It is in the list "Doing", meaning that cannot be just side project. In the checklist, we can see quite a few interesting details like "upgrade chips for scanner (build at fabricator)" !

I don't remember where, but I am sure there was discussion about map room.
My question is simple; is this the plan of devs all along, or is this proof they really take those good ideas from us, community? Anyway, this is really good news! Thank you devs! :)

Where The F. Is The Cyclops Bridge Fragment, And What Does It Look Like?

So, after a year of not playing, I decided to start up again.

Love all the changes, but seriously guys, if you are going to make fragments look like stuff, you NEED to tell me what is looks like. I have burned through two power cells in the Seamoth searching for the d*mn Cyclops Bridge fragments.

Oh, I have found dozens of Cyclops Pressure Compensator fragments and played chicken multiple times with the Reaper Leviathan. But I don't even know if I am searching in the right areas. You would think that the Cyclops bridge would be located near the engines and hull fragments, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Seriously, what you should do is provide diminished research for a specific blueprint just by scanning existing fragments. At least then I don't waste my time scanning the seamoth / Cyclops Pressure Compensator fragments, just so I dont try scanning them a second time.

Hello guys! :)

Long time ago, I was a veteran back in the old days. The reason I quit, was when the developers decided to stop working on the game and left it in a very bad shape. Alot of issues: Gameplay, performance and hit detection.

But I have to say, after testing the game today I got really impressed how far the community pushed the game. Fantastic job. Both gameplay and performance vice. In every aspect. I love it, great job guys. :)

I wish that other people could see this game in current state. I'm pretty sure more people would start playing NS2.
