Terrain deforming is still in the game and sucks the PCs resources.Please letus choose to disable it

Can we have the option to disable this feature entirely when starting a new save? Can we also choose to disable Time Capsules?

I only mentioned Time Capsules cause alot of people don't like how immersion breaking some are, or how they can give late-game stuff too early

I feel like there's every reason to add this since it wouldn't take away or limit anything from the game unless you wanted it to, purely optional.

Hello, recent buyer upon full release here, unfortunately, I'm being plagued by a game-breaking sound bug. Everything runs well and looks extremely good until I submerge and surface in the water once or twice. Then all sound crashes, even menu music when I quit out. I've tried every audio fix on the forums and that I could think of including, re-installing the game, starting a new save, verifying game cache, adjusting audio frequency, changing audio drivers, updating audio and graphics drivers, running compatibility mode in every setting, running as admin etc. short of reinstalling windows 10, I'm not sure what to do. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(As you'll see below my PC should easily run this game on max settings)

No nickel spawns anywhere in the fossil cave[where it always is]

As the title says, in my current playthroughs made after launch, no where in the fossil caves, both entrances and all through out, along with the volcanic region underneath there are no nickel spawns what so ever. I have spent hours searching and not one piece. Usually the minable ones are in the acid pools and some loose pieces are around the banks of those pools with the odd rare piece of it being in a multitude of other places thoughout these two biomes. But again, after hours of looking, i have found not one piece.

Unable to build the Neptune launch platform - takes ingredients but nothing happens

I've been playing on the experimental branch since before release. The version is currently Jan-2018 59797.

I am unable to build the Neptune rocket launch platform. When I issue the build command in the Mobile Vehicle Bay, it takes my materials but nothing happens. It's the exact same symptom as reported previously in 2017: https://forums.unknownworlds.com/discussion/152621/52665-unable-to-build-rocket-launch-platform

Building a new Mobile Vehicle Bay did not resolve this problem (although I did have this problem when I tried to build my Cyclops and making a new bay did fix that problem).

I cannot switch to the stable branch and try the game there because it says that my save game is too new. Is it possible that the experimental branch still contains the pre-release logic that forbids building the launch platform? I would be happy to move back onto the stable branch, but I'm not sure how to do it at this point given that it can't load my save. (Will the stable branch catch up to experimental sometime soon at which point my save will be loadable? Do I need to be on the stable branch to end the game? Now that the game is released I'd hope the experimental branch would have that logic too.)

The Mobile Vehicle Bay takes my materials but does nothing else.

This game was started in stable and then, near the end (in the entrance to the final precursor base), continued. Is that likely the problem?

Another strange issue, up until today I had a laser cutter (even in the previous experimental), now I can't build one, it says I do not have any of the blueprint fragments.

Creature eggs' names not changing after being hatched

So apparently the creature eggs' names are supposed to change to the respective species' egg's name and get a new tooltip (eg. "Creature egg/an unidentified egg" to "Stalker egg/Stalkers hatch from these"). However, this doesn't seem to work for me. I've hatched plenty of different kinds of fish in the containment, yet the eggs still appear as creature eggs. I've checked plenty of eggs from species I've hatched (I do recognize them so it's not that) and rehatched some species eggs, but I've only found one "Stalker egg" and one egg in my lifepod changed to "Gasopod egg". Apart from those two, all eggs are still creature eggs. Is this happening to others?

I've hatched (and gotten the "x egg discovered"-message for) the following species:
  • Cutefish
  • Stalker
  • Sand shark
  • Mesmer
  • Spadefish
  • Rabbit ray
  • Gasopod
  • Crashfish
  • Lava lizard

Even though player is cured, some beacteria may have stowed away in the Rocket, or in a lifeform. Also maybe Kharaa became airborne.

Base control panel

What do you think about a control panel you can put in base for control light, oxygen, pressure, door lock etc ... This panel will show an holographic map of your base like the Cyclops and will be updated when you put an other base part. It will be really cool for the after v1.

Mod to add "live" mapping to Subnautica (v0.10)

I've created a mod that allows you to display a map in the Steam Overlay that can display various pieces of information.

Caveat 1: A lot of the game revolves around exploring, so using this map should be considered a spoilers.
Caveat 2: Should the devs ever decide to add some form of auto-map or other in-game map, I'll most likely retire this mod.

Motivation

I tend to get lost a lot in Subnautica. Exploring is great fun, but once I've found something, once I know where something is, I really want to be able to find it again. Beacons help a great deal, but for some things, like resources, when I don't have a beacon available or when I simply want to know which way to turn to get to a biome a map is invaluable.

If I were really trapped on 4546B I'd definitely be drawing a map, pinning it to wall in my cyclops, or drawing it in AlterraPaint on my PDA.

This mod is my personal answer to not having an in-game map. I'm making it available as I'm sure there must be at least one other person that would like an in-game (ish) map.

Capabilities

Update Feature List
  • Works in a web-browser (chrome), and hence in Steam Overlay.
  • Displays the current player position (icon, coords) and current biome
  • Displays all ping manager items on the map (beacons, signals, vessels)
  • Has multiple background layers (blank, biomes(default), lost river, etc).
  • Has a store of POIs, taken from the wiki, (off by default), for things like wrecks, degasi bases, vents etc. (very much spoilers, also probably out-of-date).
  • Displays a time of day indication. (v0.4)
  • Leviathan Spawn Locations map layer (v0.5)
  • Update wiki POIs (v0.5)
  • Can now switch layers automatically, e.g. for Lost River. (v0.6)
  • Support for Subnautica not in default Steam Library (0.7)
  • Improved Maps and more of them (0.8)
  • Displays player view direction (0.9)

Battery drain on Cyclops

Is anyone else experiencing a fast rate of battery drain since the latest update? I can have everything turned off and I come back to a dead battery in at least one slot. When I move the Cyclops, I probably get 300m before most of my power is drained, even with the Energy Efficient module.

Can't make a PRAWN Suit

Ok. So, I did my grinding to find all the materials to make the PRAWN suit. I get my mobile vehicle bay, dispatched it, climbed on it, selected the PRAWN suit icon(which is highlighted since I have all the components) and it does nothing!!! Moved the MVB multiple places to see if it was the location but still....nothing!! Any help?

Add PDA voice log entry for the survival guide

New players need to be encouraged to read the survival guide entry in the data bank very soon after starting Subnautica.

I have watched video of way too many players who don't know to read it early on when it could be REALLY helpful.

Please add a PDA voice log entry about it so that they don't miss this useful information. It would make the beginning of the game much less painful.

"damaged save game"

I was playing Subnautica yesterday when one of my cats jumped on the computer and turned it off. I turned SN back on and went to load my save. The save showed a placeholder picture and said that it was "damaged save game". It was dated to 1st of January 2015, 12:00 AM. I loaded the save and it worked just fine, no problems asides from the fact that the date was messed up and said it had been created when I tried to open it back up. Weird bug, probably a 1/100,000 chance of happening.

[BUG] VR Recentering BUG in vehicle bay/cyclops camera

Current game version 1.0 using HTC vive
When building any vehicle in vehicle bay, the moment hitting craft button somehow make your VR recenter to the direction you face(which is impossible to be straight forward), this will cause later on entering any vehicle, you will be facing a totally wrong direction which is very anoying for VR seated gameplay.

Same situation happens when you enter scanner room camera/cyclops external camera, clicking those buttons should not trigger a re-center in VR.

Also there is no in-game recenter button, cause this issue even more anoying thus make the game unplayable in VR.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Use HTC Vive, take a sit
2. go in free game version
3. enter a vehicle, confirm you are facing the right direction after entering
4. craft any vehicle in vehicle bay
5. enter any vehicle again, now notice you are facing wrong direction, need to move your chair or recenter

an even mote anoying reproduce:
1.enter cyclops and drive it, make sure you are facing correct direction on the seat
2.enter external camera
3.switch back to dring mode, now you are 90 degree away from where you should face
4. try again


I've seen this bug since VR mode launched, expecting it to be fixed by 1.0 so I can actually play in VR, but still didn't happen, please fix devs~ thanks!!!!

so when i try to play the game it says its running, no not responding or anything like that however the window wont open. i can hear the audio with nothing wrong on that end. even pushing the taskbar icon does nothing. i've tried everything from reinstalling to updating drivers and have probably spent close to the amount i've played the game trying to fix it. if anyone can please help me out so i can play subnautica again i will be so appreciative.

Well me for one use a bunch of underwater lockers and later i when i have build a base i store the resources in the base but the underwater lockers are stowed in a big locker the glass locker. would it not be cool if the fabricator had a recycle function were u could recycle your old equipment like scanners if u accidentally build a second or a third one or even upgrades like scanner room range upgrades and recycle them back into the materials they where built from or then have a penalty of about 25 or 50% resources less because it had to be recycles back into resources for e.g. the underwater lockers that u get all, three or two of it the 4 titanium used back. and it could be done by a another internal installation or just internal module like the fabricator is a internal module. instead of using the actual fabricator

P.S I know it's a bit late now for that but maybe it could be a update or probably a DLC after v1.0 because i think it to late for development or maybe not.

Does the Hull Reinforcement even work??

I noticed in the Seamoth/Cyclops that I take the same damage with it on or off.

I test this, I set my Seamoth in the same position, with F1, went full speed into a rock, took 8 damage.

Healed it, went back into the same position with the Hull Reinforcement, and took 8 damage.

The Cyclops is PAPER and is easily hurt, I honestly hate driving it. Even with it fully upgraded, 8 ION cells, using that Shield Generator takes up way too much power to be good for more then short bursts, on top of that there is no Solar Charger, only Heat. It's only good for the Lava Zone and that's it. Since you are surrounded by heat.

This thing drains power like it isn't there, and even with the Efficiency Module, and Heat Recharge it takes an extremely long time to recharge.
