How to test :
-Use action key on moopool ladders

How to fix :
-Use hatch or insist or spam jump
-If stuck in ladder , look the ladder (for have action pop-up) then use Action key (don't make you climb but atlease unstuck you).

% of occurence :
I would say 50% for fall in water , 10% for stuck in ladder.

Sorry for my english.

Sunbeam doesn't spawn before exploding...

This was a bug a while back that the Sunbeam ship wouldn't spawn during the fly-in animation/explosion.

It /was/ fixed but seems to have been broken again. I assume it's broken as the explosion is "too close" for the gun to simply destroy that much matter in thin air like what explodes.

Recently I saw this bug on JackSepticEye's new playthrough of the game and experienced it myself not once, but twice. The second time I was trying to test the recurrence of the issue. I just wonder if anyone else has noticed this and just not mentioned it.

Crashing when not in vehicle in prison aquarium

Here's diagnostics and the crash report, always happens when I get out of the prawn to insert ion cubes.
Ranges from a CTD to variations on the blue screen of death.
Haven't had issues like this for ages, and now I'm so close to the end it is pretty frustrating.

[Bug Report] Several

Just bought Subnautica on Steam and running into a pile of "odd" glitches and crashes. First, the specs;

DiDiag: https://pastebin.com/yyZqj4Tt
Output: https://pastebin.com/H8ru36fV

Really haven't been able to play it at all, even when it does load. Usually, it just does a CTD when I try to load. Sometime, it loads and I can play for a bit, then it dumps to desktop. On another try, I actually loaded, played and saved and then tried to quit. As soon as I hit quit my machine went into Shutdown! This is the only game that gives me problems, I can handle anything else but Subnautica is glitchy as hell.

I've tested various in-game settings, drivers are current and running default settings.

It's worth mentioning that at first the game wouldn't load at all and I was getting this error;

ofFckAC.png

Eventually, I was able to figure out that the bad_module_info bug was related to the XBox's GameBar overlay on Windows 10 from the Fall Creator's Update. My fix for that is here;

http://steamcommunity.com/app/264710/discussions/0/1693785669851627557/?tscn=1517082225

There seems to be a lot of odd clipping errors, as well, especially around that big crashed ship if you approach it. I was just exploring that area surrounding the ship and textures get VERY blurry, also.

Looks like a fun game but there are a lot of weird problems with it. Do I need a refund?

Story progression

To new players , This topic may contains unmarked spoilers, players new to the game would want to avoid it.

Hello , i open this topic because after around 150 day (IG time) , the story don't move , i mean , i have the lunchpad crafting recipe , but i never visit things like inactive lava zone or lava lake , despite "This particular biome plays a major role in the story of Subnautica." as wiki said.

So what , did i miss something ? or skip something ? Did something will "unlock" when attempting to create lunchpad ?

Also i still have the disease , so i can't disable the big weapon so even if i can create lunchpad , i can't leave the planet without being destroyed IMO.

Know i don't want to finish the game now , i've still some place to discover and things to build , but i'l like stuck in story since around 70 days (IGT).

Or maybe someone have a list of story quest stage ?

Sorry for my english , feel free to ask me any questions for help you to understand where i am in the story atm.

EDIT : Btw i've visit all coordinates given by the radio of cours , and taken every PDA i've encounter since the first day.
Also if it can help , i have 8 radio coordinate displayed in my beacon list (double checked them twice) , maybe it can help you to know "where" i am.

Seamoth stuck in the floor

So, the game is finaly out and I've been enjoying the game alot !

However...
20180125223133_1.jpg

Just to add a bit more of clarification: The orange dot in the ground is what is left of my seamoth stuck in the floor in the
Island with the orbital gun thing.
(foot for scale).

Yeah..thats still happening.

I mean, it was fun in the last 10 times it happend (specialy the times I would get ported below the map into the endless abyss) EDIT: That was back
in E.A
but right now I'm feeling rather disapointed and frustrated with this. Is there a Fix where I won't have to deal with this shit without having to use console commands and get my achivements blocked ?

I don't want to sound too much as a sarcastic prick as I do understand the game just recently launched, but given the time the it has been in development it boogles my mind this is still a thing and losing 6 hours of progress just because of this problem ain't no fun at all guys.

That said though I'm still enjoying Subnautica, I think it has a great idea and it's been fun to fight my fears of deep water. Here's hoping this get resolved soon.

Be able to customize the color of your base

I am getting just a little bored with just white and black color of the base and think the DEV's should add a color wheel just like for the moonpool and the cyclops and for every hallway or room you will be given a color wheel so if you want to color code where each place is like farming, power, building area, and the direction for the moonpool.
For Example the way to the farm can be green or any color in the wheel. If you take your time to read it all thank you and hope you like the idea or want to add more in the comments

Combat++

Hey guys! I've been wanting to work on a mod for NS2 for some time now. Back in October I started thinking that it would be great to bring the combat mode back to NS2. There are many reason why. I know there was quite a big following in the NS1 days. And I know personally that sometimes I just want to login and kill things and not have to worry about all the little nuances of the main game.

Apparently I was not alone in this idea because I came to these forums and found recent posts in the "Combat Mode Relaunch" thread. At the time I had already started some initial work on Combat++. After reading the last few pages of that thread, it seemed like the consensus was that if it were to happen, it would need to be a new mod started from scratch (which is what I had set out to do anyway).

So, I began working on Combat++. I did quite a bit of work back in the fall, took a break and did quite a bit more work on it over the holidays. I'm finally far enough along that I can show off a little bit to the community.

Just a few notes:
- I know there was a NS2: Combat that was released as an official game. I never played it but I have watched lots of youtube videos for inspiration. I feel that it is important that combat mode be reestablished in the main game executable.
- Its been a while (10+) years since I played the NS1 Combat mod so my memory is a little hazy on the fine details. So, if any of the gameplay seems odd or out of place compared to the original, let me know. I'd like to make this as good as I possibly can.
- So far, most of my development has been on gamestate and the Marine team. I'm set to start working on the Aliens next.
- I have several ideas for gameplay tweaks, most of which are tied to the idea of earning skill points for more than just kills.

It would be great to get the community involved. I'd take any help I can get. I just want to see this happen.
The current source code is uploaded on GitHub at the moment. It's still just an early WIP. I'm only about halfway through documenting what I've done thus far.

I have have a little early progress trailer for you guys too. Let me know what you think!

PLEASE READ: This is not finished and is pretty much a proof of concept at the moment.

Version: Stable - Jan-2018 59783
At the time of writing, this also works on experimental branch. THESE FILES MAY CHANGE. If you want to continue using this mod you may want to disable updates for a while.

I always thought Subnautica was a little too bright and I hate the performance hit you get with things like Reshade, so I decided to directly modify fog values in 'Assembly-CSharp.dll'.
This mod might make the game a little too dark for some people, but I find that it makes the game so much more creepy! It also hides a lot of the pop-in, which is pretty cool.

Disclaimer:
I haven't fully tested this (i.e, been to every biome). There shouldn't be any performance changes and it's only modifying visual stuff, so it shouldn't cause any crashes.
The darker the biome, the more this mod will affect it. The shallows wont change much, but the Jellyshroom Cave (see screenshot) looks quite a bit different.

Instructions:
Ok, sharing game DLLs is pretty illegal, so instead, here's how to modify the file yourself.

Step1: Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\Subnautica_Data\Managed" and make a backup of 'Assembly-CSharp.dll'
Step2: Download a HEX Editor of your choice (any will do, there's plenty of free ones)
Step3: Open 'Assembly-CSharp.dll' in your hex editor and search for the hex listed below and make the changes in bold
Step4: Save the file

22 00 00 0C 42 5A 02 7B
22 00 00 00 40 5A 02 7B

00 AF 43 7D 0A 1A 00 04
00 7A 43 7D E3 1A 00 04

85 84 04 3F 22 AD AC 2C
1F 1E 1E 3F 22 46 46 46

There's a few more I need to find but I'll update this post later.

To uninstall this mod, simply replace "Assembly-CSharp.dll" with your backup or delete the file then verify file integrity through Steam.

Enjoy :)

As in plants and stuff is just good for the bioreactor now and not much else. Got it.

I mean yeah you can eat them but it's about as good as eating raw fish and since I can unlock the mod station for the thermal blade fairly early and we get twice as much water from bleach now, there really isn't a point, is there? Even for the bioreactor, if you still use one at the end of the game, an aquarium full of peepers is much better for energy than any plant.

It's fine and all, doesn't make the game any harder. Not sure why they would disable something they worked so hard to develop in the process. It's really just cosmetic, now. An aesthetic you have to spend a little extra time on.
Ah well.

Where can I buy Subnautica for the PC - without having to go through Steam?

$

Where can I purchase and play a legitimate copy of Subnautica without having to go through Steam?*

And if the PC version is not available without Steam, have there been any announcements, concrete plans, to release it as such in the future?

Would I still be able to download or update Subnautica with a non-Steam purchase? Would it incur additional costs? Would I essentially have to re-purchase the game to get the updates, similar to a subscription fee?

Any answers, contextual information and links are appreciated.

Thank you.

*My reasons for not patronizing Steam are personal, not technical btw.

Build tool bug when rebinding left and right mouse keys.

$

In the event you're left handed and swap the left and right mouse buttons in the keybind menu you can no longer use the build tool because whenever you try to select a piece to build from the build tool menu it just open/closes the menu.

Currently the only way to select items in the build menu is via the mouse button click, event rebinding the button to a keyboard button does not allow you to select build pieces in the build tool menu except by clicking the mouse button.

This never used to be a problem in previous builds, so hoping this can be fixed relatively easily?

Can anyone explain why the decision was made to try and release this game on Xbox?

The more I've been thinking about it, the more I've realized that many of the features that users yearned for were either cut or never developed simply because they wanted to be able to cram this game into the pitiful box that the lackluster platform supports.

First and foremost is a co-op multiplayer mode. They try to claim that it was a fundamental problem in their original design that prevented them from going down that path; however, a small, random group of developers were able to decompile the code and make many of the necessary changes on their own on a part-time basis. When you consider that along with the massive undertaking that it would be to develop the type of multiplayer experience that this game would need to implement in order to maintain cohesion of the underlying story on the Xbox platform, it begins to feel like Microsoft's offering was the true impedance. Doing so on the PC would have been a trivial matter compared to many of the other mechanics developed for this game.

Xbox Live is undeniably powerful. However; if your multiplayer experience does not fit tidily within a small set of scenarios, then you are forced to write a completely custom implementation that meets their very strict set of specifications against their very convoluted API. It is an incredibly onerous task that is prohibitive unless you are a behemoth like Bethesda or Square Enix.

When you look at the desire to develop VR support for this game, the decision becomes even more of a head-scratcher. It is literally the only modern gaming console that does not support VR in any way. Even the Switch can be rigged for it. Had they targeted a console that also supported VR, then I believe that it is a feature that would have received more attention. It certainly would have increased the percentage of the user base that wanted to play with that technology.

ssyfzgpkkf4r.jpg

Then there is the content that downright received a cut for no apparent reason. Many rumors have circulated (and some have been verified by the UW team) that some of those cuts were made simply because it wasn't going to be feasible for the Xbox release. Terraforming, anyone?

I just don't get it. It doesn't even seem economically justifiable considering that the Xbox is dead last in popularity in today's market and has played second fiddle to the PS4 its entire life. The Switch has nearly tripled the number of sales the Xbox One had in the first year after its release, and is second only to the PS4 in the same time frame. The one and only claim-to-fame that the Xbox has going for it is, multiplayer *sad trombone*... I just don't understand. If they'd truly gone cross-plat, then it would make more sense. If they'd gone with PS4 as the "third wheel" rather than the Xbox, then it would still make more sense. Heck - I'd even throw them a bone if they'd switched :D gears and gone with the Switch given the original mobile roots that this game spawned from. This just doesn't seem rational, at all...

TL:DR: Xbox sucks...

Procedurally Generated Multiplayer Sequel?

OK, so I just read the "multiplayer not happening in subnautica" thread that was posted and that makes total sense. I'm thinking though that maybe if the devs want to a whole 'nother game with co-op play and randomly generated maps could be cool, i'd definitely buy that. maybe the setting could be you are a crew of explorers coming to investigate the planet for a potential ettlement now that the gun has been disabled and a cure found for the karar infection. we could start off landing on one of the islands and descend into the sea to gather rexources to build an outpost and start a colony, perhaps over time you could build landing pads and NPC colonists could show up and give special perks or something. i dob't now much about the coding side of things but the mechanics of the game they currently have with a co-op element added in with progression mechanics added in to incentivise building bigger and better bases with some new creatures and secrets to discover could be fun. maybe there could also be a faction system with competing groups all vying for space on the planet?

Prawn in Moonpool

The Prawn suit feels out of place in the moonpool. Like, in another dimension, as if you try to walk on it, you fall in the water.
And this makes its inventory inaccessible, and this is quite annoying. Can you at least make it accessible via a gui icon in the vehicle modification station, like in the Cyclops?

Inability to interact with Prawn Suit in Moon Pool

$

In the previous update whilst the Prawn Suit was docked in the Moon Pool you could use the repair tool to fix damage and swap the upgrades in and out. Since the update ( xbox - in line with the steam release), you can only board the Prawn and not interact with the upgrades or repair. It's a bit of a hassle to keep updocking.

The seamoth works fine in the Moon pool.
