Vertical Base Component like Elevator ???

Hi, I got some suggestion about building our home.

I really like the view of Grand Reef, those giant blue floating rocks are really beautiful, so I plan to build my base there. And I notice that there are heat sources at the feet of the cliff. The question is, if I wanna build my base hooked on a cliff, say boundary between Grand Reef and Kelp forest (-340, -180, -670), there's a very steep cliff about -100m length in depth, and very little space horizontally. But the only way to climb up and down is to build ladder inside multipurpose room, but such structure is very redundant and material consuming.

So I was thinking an elavator component would be very nice, I urge the developpers consider adding some helping tools for those wanna build their home vertically.

Shot as above, the cliff is not very clear, but the shape is just like my sweet sweet home. I plan to further build my base deep down -200m, but all I need is an elevator.

It literally takes 2-3 times starting and crashing it to even get to a black screen with music and then it hangs.

Was working just fine before I installed the oculus and updated the drivers for my amd r9 200.

updated sound drivers as well. Followed every step in the troubleshooting guide. Waiting 5 minutes for it to load. tried -vrmode none
tried -force-d3d9
absolutely nothing works to fix it.

Also tried both experimental branch and normal branch

Can you guys help? I feel like it was a waste of $20 at this point :(

More scary / frightening moments in the Game

Ok - first of all - I know, SN is no horror game at all but I have some suggestions to give you more of this impressive moments which would make this game even greater than it is.

1. Wrack Diving: Opening Doors should cause bubbels / suction / floting you have to struggle against it while beginning to hyperventilate and loosing some air / oxygen. In fact these wracks should also have some cavities with air in it. May there are also some things like ropes / falling things you might get entangled or stuck so you have to force your way back.

2. Dead Crew Members / Bodies: In Order to more realism there should be dead peoples / crew members around and inside the aurora. Maybe some of them are still alive giving you some special items / information and passes on by an accident or a predator attack. Dead crew people / bodies should have a searchable inventory.

3. Predator Attacks: The behavoir of the bigger predator should be much more unpredictable. This would more thrilling to your exploring.

4. More scripted events: Something like: You are about to explore a life pod. The crew member in is still in it and alive. Suddenly the life pod is attacked by a big predator... (Good reason for existing demages / breaches / holes). Special events during night / solar eclipse.

5. Radiation contamination: Causes mutations at the fauna and flora - turning e.g. an eyeeye in a creapy small predator. Also there could be some kind of anormalies / artefact system in the radiation zone (something like in the STALKER game) which are dangerous but giving you some very special items / equipment: Here is the extract of the explanation for those who don't know the game:
"Each and every anomaly has different effects upon the player. Almost all of them are dangerous and eventually fatal, with the notable exception of the Space Anomaly. In game, anomalies appear alone or in clusters. The player is always carrying a detector which beeps when anomalies are near. The higher the frequency of beeps, the closer the anomaly. In anomaly-heavy areas, an extra precaution is to throw metal bolts, of which the player has an infinite amount. Note that metal bolts only help to reveal the anomalies, not remove them (although a few anomalies can be passed through without danger immediately after tossing a bolt at them). Artifacts are formed in anomalies. Certain artifacts are spawned by certain anomalies. Artifacts are rarely found anywhere but in thick clusters of anomalies and are easily uncovered by using a detector."

Im Moment bin ich ja so ziemlich der einzige, der das Spiel übersetzt, was gerade bei Enzyklopädieeinträgen etwas langwierig ist.
Wäre schön, wenn sich noch andere beteiligen. Ich guck alle paar Tage mal rein, um nach neuen Einträgen Ausschau zu halten. Ich bin auch der amtierende Moderator für die Deutschsektion, ich sichte also auch alle Übersetzungen, bevor sie übernommen werden.

Possible to Upgrading the Scanner (pretty please)

As the game now has the parts of items as actual parts (no longer as little boxes), can we please get an updated scanner with a larger range and an indication in the radar screen where the a scannable object is. It would be nice to see that on the seaglide too. I lost my life (hardcore mode) whilst swimming around for 3 days trying to find parts 2 and 3 of the sea moth.
It that wasn't enough, the amount of stuff I found on the seafloor at 180 metres deep, finding the scannable object is making it a little too finnicky and takes the fun away from the game.

when building the base, you can increase the strength by building foundations first, yet it takes a lot of titanium (so many items for inventory), can we see a 2x2 option at the price of one titanium ingot? It would aid to the building fun.

So, I've noticed this about 4 frustrating times now and literally every time (4) i've laid a storage container down, and put stuff inside of it and swam away to explore to get fish i come back and poof! gone!

i lost some gold in there, and copper wire

devs i think i died a little inside..i'd rather have storage then better FPS! <3

Started this Post originally to get the ball rolling didn't realise how many would respond, so if you have bugs that are not on the list just mention it within the comment section below, depending on free time and playing subnautica it may take me awhile to respond or even update the list, thanks from a fellow subnautica fan for the help guys. Hopefully the major bugs will get fixed and help get the game running smoother in the foreseeable future

BUGS


- any building block's I place that goes through or slightly into the reef/ rocks & plant life will be Terra formed as expected but if you load or come back to the Area after a journey it will go back to its original form and glitch through the building block deny access through walkways etc.

- when a breach floods your base fish will swim through or spawn in the base, even found fish swimming/ floating even without a breach. while in the Cyclops/ big sub if you hold a snap block/ base building item's while in the sub it did a 360 spinning around demolishing anything in sight.

- found wreckage parts, doors, flood lights and reef parts floating in the sky.

- frame rate issues

- game crashes often even more so while playing in creative (to as expected)

- picking up alien fish even while directly next to it does not work sometimes (hit box to small?)

- Crashed while in the seamoth to where it looked like I was on the edge of space treading water. No amount of restarting fixed it. When I finally died a hour later due to dehydration, I spawned back where the life pod was with my vehicle bay and lifepod gone. I didn't see the seamoth beacon either. Restarted the game -

- Third game crashed while I was next to the aurora and out scanning fragments. When the game reloaded I was back at the pod. The base i built and my vehicle bay were gone and again I didn't see my seamoth beacon -

- Life Pod cannot be repaired SneezyPanda

- I deleted my survival and started a new one to try and get crash powder to spawn, and it worked! I made a welder and fixed the pod. I put the welder in the pod storage. Went out to start a base, and when I came back the pod was gone. The pod beacon said it was way off in the distance, I traveled for 5 min and got nowhere - xNeil_Armstrong

- I also had a glitch happen last night that I got stuck in my Seamoth and couldn't get out and every time I tried to press the A button to get out it would say " SpawnFailed ". It fixed after I restarted the game twice - MayaMidnight

- ealier today when i loaded up subnautica my survival world broke. The world outside my escape pod doesn't load up anything its just a huge blank open ocean no land no fish nothing. Im not sure what caused it as i saved and exited to main menu before i got off last time - Fearingsix

- ive just had one when exploring the mushroom forest right outside the aurora while looking for cyclopse fragments on survival. no idea how it happened but i got launched flying into the sky while in my seamoth, then the screen went all blurry and after that i was sent about 500m in the sea way too far out the map id say about over 300,000m away from my pod - DroopyGlint

- water clipping through building blocks at surface level - IzaacJ

- character can easily get stuck on the banisters by any connecting corridor in the multifunction room, requiring you to save and quite to fix the issue - EVILONE15

- Hi I am new to the game on Xbox. I wanted to report that the game also crashes while being in the main menu just sitting in idle. I wanted to pause the game in the main menu and come back later. I tried if it was accidental but the game crashes every time while idle in main menu. It does it within an hour and quite some turns now. - oelikoelie

- I found that fragments in my game despawn mid-scanning period when I'm bitten by a Biter. Really annoying, 'cause I really need a mobile vehicle bay. - Darwin-Evolution

- it only happened once but I tried to get into my base via moonpool but when I went into it, I fell through the base and landed on the ground (underwater) like I was on land. Only for me to realize that my oxygen was not going down and I was walking underwater (like my base) and I had to climb up to my hatch to "leave my base" - trainman16

- sometimes if I look down while I am in my base it slows my walking speed to nearly 5% - Melinity

anything else that comes to me I will update this post, also anyone can contribute to the list, I know its a preview and all just here to help, also to note I will have no idea if and when these bugs are fixed (guessing after a bug update in the near future) so when that happens I will keep it up to date.

Texture quality option in the options menu

I would love a option to change the texture quality, because even though I have 4gb of ram and has a decent graphics card, it runs amazingly on recommended with the texture quality set to 3, it sets the texture quality to 1 when I restart the game with the recommended setting on. It gets annoying having to change it constantly in game.

Bug: Aurora cargo hold door locked behind me

I can't remember the reason, but I saved and shut down after reaching the cargo hold but before descending the diagonal elevator thing. I load up and the door to the cargo hold is shut behind me. It's lit up red, no interact option, and there's a keypad for entering the code like on the other side but it's decorative I suppose. I go loot the Sea Moth bay and fix the reactor and it's still bugged. I go to put in feedback and while it's paused and I'm about to start typing I see the light on the door change. I exit feedback and it opens now. I go back to feedback to enter it in anyway, I figured I might as well, and I decided I was willing to attach my email. I clicked the "privacy" button out of curiosity and it talked about how UW stores it separately something like that, and my game resumes, but the privacy pop-up is still there and I can't move. There were a few buttons I could hit to make the pop-up go away and come back, but movement didn't come back after a little while so I closed out and now I gotta loot the boxes (I'm hoping for nutrient blocks since I can't actually make those; I found three before, but with my luck that won't happen again), check the Sea Moth bay, fix the reactor (and deal with those little bleeder assholes) and hope the door will either be open or unlocked itself all over again.

Bug: Air Pipe spawning issues

A stone's throw from my base and lifepod 5 is a cave in the floor of a kelp forest that I have used several times for gathering silver. It recently hit me that since I make frequent trips and can't stay down long before needing more air, I'd pipe some oxygen down from the surface. I made a floating pump and a few sets of pipes and swam over. I was getting 2 to 4 FPS which made it difficult to properly position the pipes. I was also getting attacked regularly by Stalkers and Bleeders (I swear Stalkers have been extra aggressive since the Bones update; wasn't it actually supposed to tone down their aggression during daylight?) and the lag was making it very difficult to fight them off. After getting enough pipes placed, I raided the cave for silver, but decided to go back after I had a few pieces in order to nurse my wounds and avoid losing what precious little ore I had recovered.

After healing up and returning to the spot, as the kelp loaded in (that pop-in I'm basically used to by now) I noticed the pipes were missing beyond about halfway down. I decided to go back and get more pipes, figuring maybe they came loose. I come back to the kelp forest and the only thing left is the pump, no pipes.

This repeated itself several times to varying degrees. Sometimes only the floating pump would be there. Sometimes half the pipes, sometimes all the pipes. One time the missing pipes reappeared after waiting around for a minute or so. Another time this didn't happen, so I settled for rebuilding them.

I had my floating storage boxes near the pod disappear early in my playthrough after venturing to the Floating Island, so I figured maybe it's because they're not vehicles or structures, but then it wouldn't make much sense if you had to redo the pipes every time around now would it? It looks like a loading issue.

hey devs amazing work on the game with updates and stuff the wait was worth it other then no fish or anything spawns but any news on the next update will it be a month away feom now and how close till we have it this next update will really bring it together in story I love the story of the precursors but if you could tell me when the next one is coming or close to thank you devs keep up the BRILL AND BEAUTIFUL WORK

just downloaded the game. but for some reason there seems to be something wrong in the build 18 folder. ive been looking everywhere for options to fix it, because i really want to play the game.

it keeps loading with a second counter, until it starts loading world tiles and displays the error. (the second counter keeps going so it does not freeze)

i've tried reinstalling and verifing the files multiple times, since i know the error is being caused by faulty files. however it still doesnt work after trying this over ten times :/
after trying all these things i'd really like to know if someone found an actual solution to this...

my pc is far above the recommended specs so that shouldn't be any problem.

(update) it seems there are a couple of files in the build 18 folder with name conflicts, even if i delete them or use these to replace the originals it does not work.

I wanted to report the following bugs I found:

1. When playing as marine with kodiak armor and holding a welder, it looks like you're wearing elite assault armor (viewmodel of the hand holding the welder). Even if you don't own elite assault armor.

2. On ns2_docking there is a pile of crates that are floating in the air in Pressure Control when you're coming from Generator. They don't touch the ground, it's not a big deal, but looks odd.

3. On ns2_summit there are some bad displacements on the snowy rock wall at the Crevice rt. Some of the displacements end mid-air, meaning that when you're climbing the wall from below as a skulk you can see behind the displacements. It's hard to describe, but if you check that wall you will see what I mean.

4. What I described in 3. is also noticeable in the ready room of ns2_kodiak at some snow piles. Might be affecting only the seasonal christmas stuff here.

I hope you guys can fix those!

Bones First Few Hours Creative mode upgraded save load issues

it's better and worse enterning moon pools seamoth and prawn docked swimming up to and entering there's a pause before getting out of water. Going through hatches from wet to dry simular pause or hang. Frame rate, bulkhead doors stop opening if a certain habitat objects is reached and certain saved locations is start point still investigating senors cauing this. flood light extier lighting from a distance day night cycle could be improved right now appears to abrupt dusk and dawn. flicking squares popping up durring sun set and rise. ambient sounds 2hrs or more just stops dead silence. that's all I've found so far in game feedback sent on all of it

so if you drop a egg in your tank, there is a chance that the creature escapes and starts to infest your base, lay eggs, and kill you. They look like they have legs made out of carter and teeth made out of parts of your base. If anyone has a sketch of something that would be cool.
