Subnautica War Thread

It is a period of civil war. Rebel (communist) spaceships (subs and forces), striking from a hidden base (in the lost river) have won their first victory against the galactic empire. Alright, that's enough of that star wars reference!

However, it is a period of civil war. The powers that govern the Subnautican planet have devolved into inevitable hostilities. On one side, the Communists, led by the Greater Communist Shoal Conglomerate. Their forces include the Warpers of the Public Health/Safety party, and (questionably) some members of the Safe Shallows. They fight for communism, and to retake territory they thought was at risk. On the other: The Conglomerate, an alliance of some of the most unlikely allies in the ocean. The Conglomerate consists of the Neo-Luddite party, commprised mainly of crabsquids, and the Republic of Koosh as well as the National Violence Party. The Rebublic of Koosh has traditionally feuded with the NVP, howver they have banded together in an effort against the Communists. This is the scene set for war.

-The Rules- (yes, there are rules, this is a civilized society and we shall have codes of conduct for warfare)
1: NO use of precursor weaponry or devices, other than their intended purposes. For the Array, it cannot be aimed at any biomes, considering its intended purpose was to keep ships out. Portals may be used, but not detonated. Additionally, ion crystals in precursor caches may not be detonated. The reasoning for this is merely that they would end the war in seconds, similarly to mutually assured destruction. Nothing would remain.

2: Now watch and learn, here's the deal: He'll slip and slide on this banana peel!
Have you ever played risk? Because that's how it's going to go down. (If you haven't played risk, see the spoiler at the bottom of this page) On this here map beneath, there are the biomes and borders laid out. Each biome will function as a territory, holding a certain number of "armies" (marked by the icons of each species). As per Risk rules, I will be doing any and all dice rolling (Seeing as I'm functioning as a neutral entity) for each attack. As for turns, each party will get a turn to move/attack. Turns will go in this order: N-LAP, NVP, the Republic of Koosh. Followed by the GCSC, and then PH/SP. In terms of how one gets armies at the start of a turn, it will be 1 army per biome controlled. "biome controlled" just means that one member of your species is in it- biomes that are controlled by members of your alliance without your species in it don't count.

3: Species advantages:
Seeing as each species has distinct traits, I've decided that each one receives a slight advantage during combat.
NVP: Gets to add 3 to any attacking dice role value (because VIOLENCE!) (oh, and reapers count as 3 armies)
GCSC: Gets to add 1/2 the number of armies they have to any attacking dice role value (because strength in numbers, comrades!) <--<i>example: Attacks with 4 armies, gets to add 2 to attacking role value
PH/SP: Get to attack or move 1 biome over from any adjacent biomes (they can teleport through 1 biome when attacking or moving)
N-LAP and R of K: Get to negate 1 unit/army (of choice) from any attacking/defending force (Mesmers have hypnosis, Crabsquids have EMP)
If The Greater Ambush Association takes part: GAA forces get +3 added to their attacking roll when attacking 2 or fewer armies (because ambush!)
UCR = have a 1/10 chance to "happen to have reinforcements" consisting of a snekzilla. If this happens, then they automatically win the engagement.

The War Map
-species/party key-
Biter/Blighter = GCSC
Crabsquid = N-LAP
Reaper/Stalker = NVP (stalker = 1, reaper = 3)
Warper = PH/SP
Crabsnake = UCR
Mesmer = R of K
GAA (if they decide to fight) = sandshark
EPCA (only because it was televised that one of their number had been militarized by the GCSC) = reefback (3 armies)

n27k1qgkoke7.jpg

Regular Risk Rules:

In regular risk, the goal is to take over as many territories as you can. This is the same goal for Subnautican war.
To do that, you have to own territories. You own territories by keeping armies on them. For Subnautican war, the territories are biomes, and the species icons are armies.
Each side has armies. At the beginning of each turn, you get armies based on how many territories you control (for here, one army per biome). You can attack territories that are adjacent to territories you have armies on during your turn
When someone attacks during their turn, they attempt to move their armies onto the occupied territory. The attackers decide how many armies they want to use to invade a territory, to a maximum of 3 armies, and the defenders can defend with a maximum of two armies. the two sides roll dice equal to the number of armies (so in this case 3 for attacking, 2 for defending). Then (it's convoluted) you order the dice from highest to lowest value and match them up- in each pair, whoever has a lower dice value will discard an army. Since this is kind of (a lot) convoluted, here's a picture:
an39bdayichj.png

You can continue attacking until all but one of your armies is defeated- because in order to occupy a territory, you have to have at least 1 army on it. For the defenders, you can defend down to the last man- and if everyone dies then the attackers move in and occupy the territory.

After the attacking portion of your turn, you can move your armies. You can move your armies anywhere within the boundaries of your territories (provided they are adjacent- you can't send reinforcements to a territory surrounded by the enemy).

So, just to be clear, the turns go like this:
1: Get new armies based on the number of biomes you control. Distribute them however you want between your territories (By the way, for each alliance you can move your armies through their biomes, but may not attack with their armies- with the exception of there being no one there to take the turn of a party *cough* *PH/SP* *cough* @Enderguy059 )
2: Attack with armies (can opt out of this)/take territories
3: Move armies

And no, we will not be playing with Risk cards or any of that other nonsense.

XBOX UNOFFICIAL BUG POST
Started this Post originally to get the ball rolling didn't realise how many would respond, so if you have bugs that are not on the list just mention it within the comment section below, depending on free time and playing subnautica it may take me awhile to respond or even update the list, thanks from a fellow subnautica fan for the help guys. Hopefully the major bugs will get fixed and help get the game running smoother in the foreseeable future

BUGS

- any building block's I place that goes through or slightly into the reef/ rocks & plant life will be Terra formed as expected but if you load or come back to the Area after a journey it will go back to its original form and glitch through the building block deny access through walkways etc.

- when a breach floods your base fish will swim through or spawn in the base, even found fish swimming/ floating even without a breach. while in the Cyclops/ big sub if you hold a snap block/ base building item's while in the sub it did a 360 spinning around demolishing anything in sight.

- found wreckage parts, doors, flood lights and reef parts floating in the sky.

- frame rate issues

- game crashes often even more so while playing in creative (to as expected)

- picking up alien fish even while directly next to it does not work sometimes (hit box to small?)

BUG LIST UPDATED [18/05/16]

- Giant Iceberg salt, randomly spawning - [xNeil_Armstrong]

- a glitch that rarely occurs, but sometimes icons, HUD and menu is invisible even when you pause in game (requires you to reboot the game and load a previous save) - [Herjolfr]

- Crashed while in the seamoth to where it looked like I was on the edge of space treading water. No amount of restarting fixed it. When I finally died a hour later due to dehydration, I spawned back where the life pod was with my vehicle bay and lifepod gone. I didn't see the seamoth beacon either. Restarted the game -

- Third game crashed while I was next to the aurora and out scanning fragments. When the game reloaded I was back at the pod. The base i built and my vehicle bay were gone and again I didn't see my seamoth beacon -

BUG LIST UPDATED [09/06/16]

- Hi I am new to the game on Xbox. I wanted to report that the game also crashes while being in the main menu just sitting in idle. I wanted to pause the game in the main menu and come back later. I tried if it was accidental but the game crashes every time while idle in main menu. It does it within an hour and quite some turns now. - oelikoelie

- I found that fragments in my game despawn mid-scanning period when I'm bitten by a Biter. Really annoying, 'cause I really need a mobile vehicle bay. - Darwin-Evolution

- it only happened once but I tried to get into my base via moonpool but when I went into it, I fell through the base and landed on the ground (underwater) like I was on land. Only for me to realize that my oxygen was not going down and I was walking underwater (like my base) and I had to climb up to my hatch to "leave my base" - trainman16

- sometimes if I look down while I am in my base it slows my walking speed to nearly 5% - Melinity

- As soon as I finished building a multi-purpose room the game crashed and I lost all of my data, the game denies that I have created any saved games - Rawrr

- I just sealed up the radiation leak and decided to head home. Upon entering my base you could constantly hear the sound of your character obtaining air from the purple brains that release 3 bubbles of air every now and then. - destinykid

- Glitch threw sea-moth while docking into moon pool causing you to sink until you hit bottom. - JONNYK301

- Your base will become transparent while in the Cyclops. - Olympicwolf

- closing bulkheads crashes the game - bbot0625

anything else that comes to me I will update this post, also anyone can contribute to the list, I know its a preview and all just here to help, also to note I will have no idea if and when these bugs are fixed (guessing after a bug update in the near future) so when that happens I will keep it up to date.

I finally decided to give this game a review. This is the review I gave. I'll change it as needed. But these are some of the things that hindered my enjoyment of the game and have me not playing anymore. I still gave it a thumbs up, btw.

Input is welcomed. Just try to be kind.

Review:

Honestly... I want to give this game a glowing review. The visuals are gorgeous... The game play is fun... The concept is right up my alley. The problem for me is the difficulty level. It's kind of hard core. For some it may be perfect. For me it was too tough. I was running out of necessary things like batteries and water before I could find any of the more important things to push forward my exploration.

The game does have a couple of levels of difficulty that involve taking all the needs and hazards out of the game. And this is all fine and good. But I like the needs and hazards. I just don't want them to be at a level I was unable to cope with.

What I think the game needs is an easier level of difficulty, IN ADDITION to the current tougher level of difficulty. Quicker respawn of certain resources like copper and salt for a medium level of difficulty and maybe a bit less aggro from the more aggressive fish. And for an easy level of difficulty add to that less resource usage. Food, water, and batteries, as well as air would get used more slowly and even less aggro from the aggressive fish.

Next I would get rid of the current inventory situation entirely in favor of a virtual inventory. No more physical storage everywhere that you have to route through constantly and try to keep organized. Instead have a handy bar someplace that says you have so much crystal, so much salt, so much copper, etc. Stuff that is harvested would go directly to this virtual storage and never need to be handled at all after harvesting... Maybe it's just me.

Last... I would get rid of the drops in speed for using more oxygen tanks or equiping items. As it stands right now you go around 1/10nth slower for every oxygen tank equiped and every item you currently have out and are using. Equip 5 tanks and you will go around half as fast. It's just annoying, IMO. Especially for newer players. I don't see the need for it.

Other than that... wonderful game... Gorgeous. Really gorgeous. And the concept is wonderful. I'm just not playing it these days because of the difficulty.

Subnautica Version - 40026 Oct-2016
Description - PDA screen is up, but blank and cannot be put away. Happened while trying to access bioreactor with a fish in hand. Is not tied to proximity to bioreactor and teleporting away via console commands does nothing. Fixed by quit to menu and reloading, but the bioreactor poofed the fish.
Reproduction steps - (This may not be 100% reproducible, but this is what happened leading up to it)
  1. Took a reginald from alien containment tank in base.
  2. Walked down to bioreactor room (down 3 floors of ladders)
  3. Clicked on bioreactor with reginald in hand, PDA interface came up but was blank.

Subnautica: The Story/Lore So Far!

$

*THIS WAS ORIGINALLY MY POST ON THE SUBNAUTICA SUBREDDIT, IF YOU PREFER READING THROUGH REDDIT THEN CLICK HERE:* https://www.reddit.com/r/subnautica/comments/4t2hxm/the_storylore_so_far_spoilers/ (Yes, my reddit username is Grevidis, this is not a rip off)

This is my gathering and understanding of the Subnautica lore given to us by the PDA data downloads and clues from the game and developers given to me, major spoilers follow so you have been warned:

To first understand the Subnautica story, you need to first understand the lore found in the background, the story of the Subnautica universe. If you do not care about this and just want to know the events of Subnautica, please go to the next paragraph. So the Subnautica universe, from what we have gathered from the PDA data download works very uniquely. After humanity has colonized most of the galaxy, one centralized government could not handle it all. So many countries or even large companies created their own Trans-gov's that were still under the centralized earth based government and had to follow some guidelines and rules, but could lead their people and society in the way they wanted to. The only two trans-gov's we have information about in the story we have gathered so far. They are the Alterra corp trans-gov where everything is very high tech and posh, and the war scarred not so great Mongolian trans-gov. The Mongolian trans-gov consists of most of the old Asian countries from Earth like China and Mongolia, that spread out into the stars. But do to some shaky pasts they ended up doing not so great and were technologically behind trans-gov's like Alterra, and economically unstable. The Mongolian occupied space is where Subnautica's planet is, planet 4546B. Alterra, as the leading phase gate constructors in the galaxy sent the Aurora to the Ariadne arm for its ninth constructed phase gate to connect the galaxy to the Ariadne arm. There is also a large mining company called Torgaljin. As far as we are aware they don't have their own trans-gov but are just a very large company.

The Degasi was a Mongolian vessel owned by Torgaljin corp, and captained by Paal Torgal, the CEO of Torgaljin. While taking a detour through the sector it was shot down by an weapon of unknown origins that was situated on planet 4546B. The Degasi crash landed on the planet and the only surviving crew were Paal Torgal, his son Baat Torgal, and a mercenary they hired for the journey; Marguerit Maida. Using the salvaged parts of the Degasi they constructed a habitat on the floater island and survived for some months by cultivating indigenous flora. Marguerit, desperate to find a way to get off the planet instead of sitting idly watching the sunset on the beach, pressured Paal to establish a habitat underwater. Paal resisted the idea at first, but eventually succumbed to her requests after heavy downpour started flooding their growbeds and increased risk of a mudslide. So the Degasi crew established a habitat in the jellyshroom caves.

After some time they realized they were all sick, there was a virus in the air that originated on the planet and was pretty much apart of the ecosystem. While exploring they found a small piece of unknown technology, technology developed by an advanced sentient species we know as the precursors. Wanting to find more about this technology and kind of crazy by the virus affecting them, they decided to head deeper into the ocean.
The following is kind of loose lore and some speculation and theories: The Degasi crew set up a third base down in the deep grand reef. Something happens to Paal and Marguerit while down there, but Baat flees back to the jellyshroom base and writes a small log saying that they were trapped down there and it was his fault, they didnt want them down there. At this point we believe that, at least Baat, was aware of the precursors. We know from a dev telling us, that the precursors captured the Degasi crew (at least Paal and Maida) and experimented on them.
Back to confirmed lore: Meanwhile Alterra sends the Aurora to the Ariadne arm to construct a phase gate to connect it to the rest of the galaxy. The Aurora's other objective is to accompany and provide the Mongolian Emissary, Khasar, on his mission to find the Degasi and her crew after it went missing, I believe, five years prior. The Aurora, scheduled for a gravitational slingshot manouvre around planet 4546B gets hit by the same weapon, apart of the Precursors Orbital Defense System, that shot down the Degasi and ends up plummeting to the ocean planet below. During its crash landing many lifepods and crew are ejected but due to many reasons most of them perish during atmospheric entry or underwater due to hostile lifeforms or drowning.

Aurora bridge Second Officer Keen takes command as the standing Aurora mission captain after the captain was killed in the crash. He directs the remaining survivors to head south for a landmass he detected, he is presumed to be commanding from the partially damaged Aurora bridge and lives for some time until the Aurora's drive core quantum detonates killing him and any other survivors on the Aurora in the fiery explosion that followed.
The precursors are a sentient intelligent and advanced species that either originated or colonized planet 4546B and set up a few bases. It appears that their main goal is to keep the creature known as the Sea Emperor imprisoned for unknown reasons, and we know that the sea emperor is an intelligent creature that we will likely have to save or something similar as a part of the story. There will be a few precursor bases scattered around the world. One in the lost river, one in the lava castle of the Inactive Lava Zone, the Sea Emperor facility/prison in the Active Lava Zone, and the large base located in and on the soon to be expanded Northern Island that has the Orbital Defense Weapon on top of it.

This leaves you, the player, to survive and find out the mysteries of the planet and the secrets of the Precursors.

This is what we know, it may be changed, tweaked, scrapped, etc. in the future, so please don't take my words as fact.

EDIT: This is a very condensed form of the lore, there are small things and theories I have left out of this. Also note that this is the story in it's early stages so its yet to be fully fleshed out and implemented into the game. If you have any questions and would like to learn more then please ask in the comments, I would be happy to try to answer them to my best abilities! :D

EDIT: If you would like to see some sources of this information then read the Data Downloads here: image (shameful promotion to my friend's channel XD) skip to the public documents if you want to know the background lore information that I discussed in the first paragraph.

EDIT: I am going to include some of the more popular, and my own, theories here:

1. One theory is that the warpers are synthetic beings that were created by the precursors. We already have had conformation that actual precursors beings NPC's will not be in the game, at least at this time, so we can assume that if the warpers were made by the precursors, then they are likely going to be the defending creatures stopping you from exploring the precursors bases.

2. Another theory includes that the Degasi Crew were turned into warpers by either the virus affecting their DNA and morphing them, or by precursor experimentation on them.

3. My favourite, and own personal, theory includes the fact that Subnautica and the Natural Selection games may be situated in the same universe. I like this theory because it not only is a nice prospect to have the games connected but there is some evidence behind it. My theory is that the precursors developed the virus that we hear about from the Degasi crew and it evolves into the alien virus we see in the NS games. I believe that, if the precursors did not originate on the planet and only set up a few research facilities for DNA experimentation and studying and using the Sea Emperor's DNA. I like to imagine that the virus and the precursors experiments and creatures got out of control and evolved into a fast evolving dominating virus that set out to infect the galaxy, and that is the alien species you see in Natural Selection. If you are wondering why the technology in the games are so vastly different is, I think, because planet 4546B is located in the Aridne arm which we know from the logs in mainly controlled by the Mongolian trans-gov and they are not as technologically advanced as say Alterra. Alterra trans-gov and corp has similar technology seen as in NS, for example the building tool in NS is like the habitat builder, but because they are a much more stabilized and economically stable then the Mongolian's and they strive for innovation, we can assume that their tech would be a lot more advanced and polished looking but yet similar. But because the aliens originated from the Subnautica planet, their first attacks would be against Mongolian space and its people. So the Mongolians send their forces to combat the alien threat and those forces are the marines you play as in the Natural Selection games, hence why the technology is a lot less nicer than seen in Subnautica. I just really like the idea of the games being in the same universe, don't you think? Also there is the NS2 easter egg poster as well if that means anything. EDIT: After reading into the Natural Selection games lore I have come to the conclusion that the two games are definitely in the same universe. I had never realized how obviously intertwined these two games were! Alterra and the Mongolian states already existed prior to Subnautica in the NS games. I will be honest, I didn't know much of the NS lore prior to a quick look into it just now. But this is very exciting, that they are in the same universe, we just don't have complete conformation that the Kharaa alien species from NS originated on planet 4546B. But knowing how developers like to branch their games together with story I think it is safe to assume that it is the Kharaa bacterium that has infected the Degasi crew!

Diving Backpack (inventory upgrade)

$

0
Right now the diver uses normal technology for air, although a seamoth can create unlimited airsupply with only a power cell...
so a further upgrade on the air tanks would be nice, maybe even with alien tech

Description:
a 3x3 backpack with a buildin airtank
same air amount like a normal airtank, but the weight of a bigger one +4

so what does this backpack do you ask yourself?
first the straps around shoulders and hip can hold 1x1 tools
meaning knife, builder, welder,... will dissappear from normal inventory and be in the backpacks inventory (toolbelt!!!) inventory +4+3

the next thing is it would have a compartment for 2 medkits (and only medkits!- survival compartment) inventory +4+3+2

then the backpack can be upgraded in an own recharge station for water(only +h2o) and food-paste(only +food) supply
you put water and food into the station it transforms it into : water charge, and foodpaste charge which then will be transferred to the backpack while recharge

the amount should be around 3-4 big (+150/200 h20) water bottles, and 3 times nutrient blocks(food +225) ... inventory +4+3+2+3+3
when hungry or thirsty you would open the pda and click on the backpack, which will replenish till you full or it is empty

also you can only carry one of these on your back the ones in the inventory are not fuctioning , other airtanks will still increase the air amount

this would clear up some of the inventory

takes up 9 inventory slots (on back none)
provides upgraded 15 slots

Hello!
This post is kind of a screenshot post about the beauty of Subnautica, because sometimes we all need to stop worrying about Reapers and what we are going to build next and take a moment to capture the serenity of such a well-crafted game.

Let us have the people of Unknown Worlds start us off:

Share any screenshots that you feel fit this thread :)

Some Suggestions for future updates

Hello,

I have some suggestions for Subnautica:

- Craftable Nutrient Blocks
- Usefull Coffee Vending Machine - e.g. regenerates health / water / food
- Usefull beds - e.g. regenerates some health
- Useful lab equipment / lab container - e.g. a kind of science update to get more information from flora and fauna
- create some kind of pheromones to draw fish
- create some kind of drugs to tame predators like stalker for pets
- Weather system with rain, wind and waves
- current / steam / underwater vortex
- Regeneration of standard material like quarz / salt
- Regeneration of fish / coralls
- Some kind of map function with markable areas still discovered
- more and different alien lifeforms on islands
- underwater stations with own signal - no more beams needed
- Usefull observation room
- scannable eggs
- drones from scanner room with much wider range
- more scannable items / materials from scannerroom
- signal from empty life pod disppear when discovered
- scanable small shrimps
- discoverable / scannable fragments / wracks of sunbeam

Mapping (lore friendly)

Let's assume the aurora had no time to map the planet not even make a satillite photography of the crash zone

then assume the conditions of the planet (extra magnetic fields, currents) make it impossible to map, scann it by just being there
and the echolot upgrade of the seamoth can't process the mapping itself

my idea for the solution are power-cell powered scanner units
they function similar to the beacon you place it and it stays right there
they have a radius let say 1000m they will slowly scan (you would see the process at looking at them f.e. 33%)
after a while they will be done you need to pick the data up and carry it to the scanner room to reevaluate the data
they will still scan the surface with indications of cave entries and POI (points of interest: wrecks, lifepods, other stuff)

you have to build a network of them to have a live surface map

this would be the general idea

edit: once they are done with 100% the power cell has to stay in them but won't loose charge anymore

tweak or upgrades are:

cave scanning
real live danger evaluation (reaper leviathan warnings)
they could increase the mineral searching range of the scanner room (would make the HUD chip useful again)

Description of Problem
Happens when swimming normally, using Seaglide or Seamoth (have not tried Prawn.) The frame rate tanks, then the game stops responding. Sometimes with enough time, it will stop being frozen but the frame rate remains abysmal and soon it freezes again. When it is frozen the audio continues playing.
Despite the frame rate tanking, the game is drawing surprisingly few resources from my machine (measured using process explorer.) My machine is not exactly cutting edge so I expected a lack of resources to be at the source of this problem but the game is using hardly any.
This only seems to happen on certain parts of the map, particularly near the Aurora side of the floater island. The first time this started happening, I managed to move out of the area by moving a tiny amount, saving, then repeating until it crashed. When the game crashed on it's own, it displayed an error. I did not take note of the error code, sorry. However it also froze indefinitely and I had to terminate the program. Then at one point when I loaded again, suddenly the game ran fine and there were no problems. I was moving away from the floater island towards the Aurora and the life pod.
Now it is the second time I'm experiencing this problem, and I am making no progress. It's worse than the first time, and not even properly crashing, just freezing forever. This time I am heading towards the floater island and away from the Aurora and the life pod. It also freezes when I quit to main menu.

Things I have tried to help with the problem
Changing the game's graphics settings, putting it in windowed, setting it as highest priority in task manager, uninstalling and then reinstalling the game, closing as many other programs as possible, restarting the computer, verified game cache integrity.

Reproduction Steps
I have no idea how to reproduce this problem but if the devs think it would be useful I am happy to upload/send them my save file.

Bigger Submarine Concept - My own 3D model

Hello everyone!

A bit of introduction here : I'm new on the forums but not on the game. Subnautica is one of my favorite game and although i didn't spend too much time on it, i had a super experience playing it! What I enjoyed the most is the exploration thanks to the wonderful places there are, and also the submarines, especially the Cyclops. And for once, a developer team has enough talent to make the vehicle completely playable. And not just making the exterior and the cockpit.
I'm currently a student for game design, and I started to make my own 3D models. Moreover i saw the concept arts for other submarines and particularly the bigger one which looks just fantastic! I know I'm really a beginner in modelling and texturing, but I want to give it a try. Maybe you could give some criticism and tips for this challenge!
Thank you in advance and hope you will like it!
(I will do updates)

EDIT!! : Instead of scrolling down to see the most recent update of the 3D Model, I'm gonna actually put an image of the last one, down below at the end of this post :)
(You can still see all the steps, by watching every updates i made in that discussion)

So here is the original 2D concept art :

And here is the first step of my own 3D model :

Those views are orthographic, there is only the general shape of the submarine. I'm currently working on a second model because the shape doesn't match perfectly with the concept image. On the first picture you can see the mesh, which is a bit weird, but again, i'm only a beginner. Future pictures will be more interesting!

EDIT! : Here is a picture of the most recent update of my 3D model! with the link to sketchfab : https://sketchfab.com/models/c217fef254dd4f6cbc21741318338239

Special Hull Plate Contest

I have an extra hull plate that I bought when that was available and forgot about it for ages. You can read more info about this plate at the wiki. I believe the plate is #14, but I can't check it without redeeming the code. These numbered plates are not available any more so this is likely last chance to get one. All I am asking for is a reply in this thread with your favorite Subnautica story. They can be short, long, not even yours but you heard from a friend, stuff you saw on Youtube, etc. You may post multiple times, but only one entry will count.

What you will win:
- 1 copy of Subnautica
- 1 numbered Hull Plate (probably around #14)

Replies up until 10pm MST on January 4, 2017 will be in the draw.

You can redeem just the Hull Plate if you already own the game. I don't believe the game can be re-gifted unfortunately.

Once a winner has been picked, I will contact them with the needed information. Redemption will take a while as it requires a lot of hands on work from the team.

The northeastern Mountains [Possible spoilers...?]

Spoiler tag only as a 'just in case'...
Right-o, on to the post.

At one point there was a rough-map of the Lost River plans, and part of it snaked out into the northeastern part of the Mountains, a section that doesn't appear to be visited all that often. The Island and the new tech on it is at the nearest portion of it, and the only Wreck isn't much further from the island itself, leaving a vast stretch of land that has no real Points of Interest.

If the Lost River was given a tunnel that started in the Mountains furthest regions, that might make it more worth visiting, but from what I can tell the Lost River's nearing completion and adding in an entirely new tunnel seems out of the question at this point, at least during the EA phase.

I think it's a shame that the LR won't be getting an entrance over in the Mountains, I think it'd have been pretty cool to see. With that being said, does anyone think that there'll ever be something in the far reaches of the Mountains that would be of particular interest? Or is there something about that region of the map that you already like? If by some minute chance they'll have the time/resources to add a new LR tunnel like in the old concept map for the biome, what would you think about that?
