Arctic Biome: How to implement

The implementation of an Arctic Biome is hard. 4546B seems to be tropical. This can be solved by introducing naturally occurring coolant*. This ‘cold fog’ is found below 600m underground in pockets. One of these pockets broke open to the ocean floor due to seismic activity (shockwaves from a meteor?). The water rushed in, cooled down and formed a massive under ground glacier.

This glacier is not solid, more of a film created around the edges of this massive pocket of the fog. The rest of the water is below freezing (-4°C). It does not freeze due to high salinity caused by salt geysers formed by the aforementioned seismic activity. The fog has collected on a small portion of the exposed rock floor. The fog sits at about -50°C, enough to kill anything in it.

Few life forms have adapted to this new, cold and salty habitat. A form of moss, some small crabs, and even a medium sized fish that lives off salt. The first two could be used as food.

STORY: The Carar cannot progress in these conditions, it stagnates and shuts down. The cold fog could also prove useful as a cheap liquid coolant for larger engines *wink for those who know the story*
