Welder pickup & autoswitch after phasing in

When I phase to a location without a welder and a marine has recently died there with one, the game picks it up and autoswitches to it.

I havent played for a while, but didnt change any settings, nor could i find any related option in the menu.
Is this a recently introduced bug, or am I missing something?
Needless to say, but I cant kill a single skulk like this after emerging on the other side :P

New console command for base building

Dear devs!
Please consider to add a new console command for switching on/off building dependencies. I like to build bases very much, and it often made me annoyed by bugs when for example with latest build i cannot deconstruct picture frame placed on glass window and window itself. Sometimes i even cannot deconstruct an empty multipurpose room previously filled with some items. It would be so nice to have an opportunity temporarily get a workaround for such bugs!

Request: implementation of some pre-existing models as furnitures

Actually there are some cool Aurora furnitures that can't be build trough the fabricator, and it could be great to add them to the fabricator list (and maybe already suggested before)

-Aurora's cargo boxes (small, medium, huge as interior and/or exterior containers), I find these storage awesome and I find sad that we can't build and use them.

-wardrobe (as interior container)

-Basic deck (without integrated computer) which look more to be a manual workdesk.


And maybe some less cumbersome furnitures versions of the existing ones:

- 2 places bench (model already ingame) (against the 3 places one), to put them more easily in compartement.

- half version of Exterior growbed with just 12 places against 24.

- half version of Indoor growbed with just 8 places against 16 (or eventually with 2 levels shelf growbed.)
I suggest this last one because it could take a bunch of place inside habitat that could feel crowded because of this large furniture. In this way we could have more place in the middle of the habitat

There are some others things in Aurora but I don't remenber if they could be intéresting, maybe as deco.

A couple of ideas.

I am not sure if these are features in the game, but if they are not I think they would be really cool.

1. Creatures can attack sea bases doing damage.
2. Player backstory, why was he the only person to escape the Aurora?

Storm Mode

Storm Mode would be a new mode in which Planet 4546B's surface would be bombarded by hurricane-force winds and torrential rains.

Constantly.

Being on the surface would deal one point of damage per second to the player. The top 20 feet of water would appear churned up, and bits of coral and acid mushrooms would occasionally smash into the player dealing about 5 damage.

The underwater area directly around the lifepod would be slightly less affected by underwater debris for the sake of not murdering players the instant they enter and exit the pod.

Also, solar panels would be 50% less effective. Oh boy.

After two weeks of gameplay, the storm would become more severe, with the player being dealt 2 damage per second on the surface and with debris being slightly more common and appearing 50 feet underwater.

After four weeks of gameplay, the storm would become even worse, with the player being dealt 4 damage per second on the surface and with debris being very common and appearing 100 feet underwater, with bits of scrap metal that deal 10 damage.

To reduce storm damage for exploring the islands, you could craft the various dive suits. The rad and still suits would reduce storm damage by 25%, and the reinforced dive suit would reduce it by 60%. Might still be a good idea to pack some first aid kits.

Seabases and subs will also be damaged by storm debris.

Fundamentally, I'm not so sure this is a good idea, but I think it could be cool. Anyways, thanks for reading.

New Ideas For Base Building

New Building Shapes for Base Building
Right now we are only limited to simple cylinder connectors and octagon room aka multi-room. I would like to see more variety of base building blocks that can be used to create more unique bases that players can show off with screenshots! Each new part I am suggesting is has a different shape and unique in appearance compared to original pieces. Some of the parts are there to add on to the multi-purpose rooms so you can have a little notch to place furniture. To select the shape you want for you building, you click on the type of room you want to use and then a drop down of shapes from which you can select if you want.

Note: You may connect tunnels to room extenders.

New Specialized Base Parts for Base Building
As the game progresses, we players should get more base parts that make our bases more useful to use in our quest to survive and escape the planet. These rooms should be designed with specific tasks in mind which helps us organize our tasks. Each of these rooms should have the same type of shapes as other rooms.
  • Reactor Room – Specialized room that neutralizes radiation also has specialized storages for rods.
  • Bio Analysis Room – Allows for storing and studying creatures DNA for further research.
  • Resource Hanger – This room is specifically designed to storage large quantities of resources.

New Furniture and Objects for Our Base
Right now there isn’t much furniture or objects to decorate your base, at times it looks rather bland and boring which leads to places reverting to basic copy paste type of bases. We need more variety in this aspect so players will have fun building their bases and maybe hold contests to see who builds the best base of them all.

  • Couch (Furniture)

  • Computer Desk (Furniture)
  • Work Bench (Furniture)

New Objects List
  • Interplanetary Radio – Plays music that originates from other planets inhabited by humans.
  • Surveillance T.V. – Allows player to monitor the location wherever they set up a camera.
  • Surveillance Camera – Sends a live feed to Surveillance T.V. which allows players monitor an area.
  • All – Purpose Gauge – Gives a reading of temperature and depth of outside waters.
  • Resource Tracker – Keeps track of resources that are inside your base.
  • Entertainment Center – Mini-games to help pass the time.
  • Base Computer – Controls the lighting, doors, functions, and defenses of the base from single computer.
  • Stun Cannon – Stuns aggressive creatures that attack the base.
  • Acoustic Amplifier – Chases off creatures with a high frequency sound.
  • Variety of Lamps – Illuminates dark areas in the base, connected to power grid.
  • Base Teleporter – Allows player to teleport between bases they set up.

Snap Toggle Features
This feature is a toggle. Each part of base building would multiple notches you can snap other parts, object, and furniture to if you want to perfectly align things. If you don’t want to perfectly align things and make them skewed, you just toggle the snap feature off which gives you what we have now in Subnautica. Basically this is to help aid those in base building, allowing for more creativity or perfect alignment of objects. To maximize the use of space inside the Multi-Purpose rooms or other parts of the base building feature.

XXL Multipurpose room, Giant Aquarium and 45° corridor and construction

I posted these in a general discussion post, then realized this is probably the better place.

Suggestion #1:
It would be great to see a very large Multipurpose Room (I call it an XXL Multipurpose Room as seen below), along with a Huge Aquarium. These would be stack-able just like the existing Multipurpose Room. The idea is pretty self explanatory and is pictured here:

Suggestion #2:
The ability to build at 45° angles off the multipurpose rooms (not just the current 90°) along with an added 45° corridor would be fantastic. Building at a 45° or diagonal would vastly increase the variety of building options, design elements and esthetics of ones undersea base. Angle construction would allow for a huge variety in large and small sea-base designs. Additionally, this diagonal construction would allow for one to build around and preserve Iconic and beautiful natural undersea fauna and terrain, and would be very alien-eco-friendly. See examples below:

Idea for bases

Make floaters better

Decided to mess around with floaters on various creatures to see just how badly they mess up movement. I would like these things to get a small buff to their float so I don't have to spam so many of them on creatures for lulz.
On Stalkers I saw little to no change in move speed after 15 of them (could not fit more). They jumped out of the water a lot, but were able to swim down and grab things.
On Reefbacks I spawned in about 40 and the damn thing still didn't list (tilt). Movement wasn't hampered, either.
Couldn't get them to stick on a Sand Shark.
Warpers would teleport away and leave them behind. (I would like to see these things stick to them permanently)
One floater on a peeper just seemed to make it swim even more erratically.
My ultimate goal is to cover a Reaper with one but at this rate it seems pointless.

Explosion improvement?

The Aurora explosion... the wake up call for many beginners of Subnautica. It's the thing that tells you "Hey, we're not fooling around. This is survival. There is no waking up. You're on your own." For me, it just didn't seem... dramatic enough. My suggestion should be that when it explodes there's a bigger explosion/flash of light. I also think adding some sort of tidal wave (or just a biggish wave) that pushes your lifepod back would be cool as well. Please tell me how you think!
This is my first discussion, so...... I just hope it won't turn into a riot XD

Small aircraft as fast as the seamoth and can land on water or land with limited storage and would require two ion powercells.

Why? I know that this was being thought about, but why? This makes the game much more immersive from my point of view. Allows you to do much more things. :'( Please add it back.

Accessibility Suggestions, Requests & Problems

Hi all,

Those of you that follow our Roadmap may be aware that we are doing an accessibility push as part of our final polish phase before 1.0. We think it's important to make as much of a push for accessibility as we can before we hit 1.0, and to carry that forward to future projects, so that as many people as possible are able to play our games. Our current aim is to hit all the relevant guidelines on the Basic tier and to that end we've reviewed the game internally and are drawing up plans for how to fix the areas we need to improve.

But here's where you come in. We'd also love to hear your suggestions for how we can improve the accessibility/inclusiveness of our games. What in Subnautica has made it difficult or impossible for you to enjoy the game? This could be anything: vision, hearing, motor, cognitive, etc. Is there anything you think we did that helped you? Do you have any suggestions for what we could add or improve? We're not looking for general gameplay feedback here, unless it's a specific aspect of gameplay that makes it difficult for someone with a disability or other impairment to enjoy the game.

We won't be able to fix or implement everything in time for 1.0 but we'll read everything and keep it in mind for anything we do in the future.

Primary Containment Facility lag For Xbox One

While I was playing on creative and got to the facility it lags and I have to wait 20 minutes to load in the full thing and once I get to a room where there is tubing and other things my game controller shuts off and I turn it back on and its full battery then shuts off again and when I went to put the ion cube in the portal the emperor uncovers it does major lag to my game and shuts me out of it and I have to restart my whole game over again.

Hey guys!

Subnautica is currently in Early Access and as such you may from time to time encounter bugs and in the worst case, crashes. If you have issues with stability of Subnautica, please post your issues with as much detail as possible (video/screenshots/descriptions), followed by the following requested information:

Example Topic Title:
[Crash] Open my Locker and Crash! [Version Number]

1) Please run dxdiag.exe (search windows for it) on your systems and hit the button 'save all information' in the bottom right. Save this file for later.

2) Navigate to your Subnautica Folder in Steam (should be steamapps\common\Subnautica)

3) Open the Subnautica_Data folder and grab a copy of 'output_log.txt'

4) Upload all the text of these to something like http://pastebin.com/ and post the public links to them with your forum posts.

These 2 files will GREATLY help us in tracking down issues with Subnautica. Thanks!

We've also got a very similar guide with pictures for each step on Steam.
And as in every good tech support:
  • Please make sure that your Windows is up to date.
  • Please make sure that your drivers are up to date.
  • Please make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements.
  • Please close all other applications before starting the game.
  • Have you tried turning it off and on again? ;)

I suggest to add some various angles tunnel parts for making our homes less square grid based.

A. Diagonal connector between 2 habitats (actually only the hatch can use diagonal habitat side)

B. tri-connector compartment that can be placed between other compartments or on habitat walls, for triangle and hexagonal grid bases (but could eventually request triangle and hexagonal foundations, not sure)

Remarks: With the actual building system it is impossible to build some big structures close to each others without a huge space between them, even if it still a decent space with no collision (for habitats, scanner room, moonpool, ...).
It could be more interesting to reduce their large restricted building area to their model size for more possibilities.

can u add splitscreen instead of multiplayer

I know the developers said there won't be any multiplayer, then can u at least add split screen because it doesn't make any sense to add 2 seats in you escape pod if your not adding multiplayer. If your going to have 2 seats can you make it splitscreen like if you agree
